The grandfather of a Chinese HIV-positive boy has defended his support for a petition to banish his grandson from their village.

Some 200 residents -- including the eight-year-old's own grandfather -- signed a petition to expel him from their village in China's southwestern Sichuan province, in a bid to "protect villagers' health". The case has prompted huge debate on Chinese social media and highlighted the stigma attached to the disease in a country where sufferers face widespread discrimination.

Police in the Yunnan province, China,  received a call from the 13-year-old girl, claiming that she had been sold by her parents.

The girl had traveled several thousand miles with her parents to her future husband. When the girl met her future mother-in-law, who was identified as Chen, she was told that her future husband was only 5 years older than her.

She was shocked to discover that her husband to be was 29 years old.

A jeering crowd in China urged a hostage-taker to kill himself after he let his victim go and held knives up to his own throat instead.

According to Mailonline, Gong Tseng, 30, had been holding his cousin Cui Meng, 29, hostage at knifepoint after a family dispute broke out in the city Chongqing, in southern China.

Police managed to persuade Tseng to release Meng after a two-hour standoff, but when he turned the knives on himself the crowd lost patience.

Nigeria Withdraws Team From 2014 Youth Olympics In China Over Ebola Discrimination

Nigerian athletes and officials to the on-going 2014 Youth Olympics in Nanjing, China have been directed to leave and come home after the country pulled out of the competition on Wednesday following discrimination against its athletes.

The athletes were quarantined, isolated and barred from training alongside other athletes of the World since arriving the competition venue.

In a statement signed Wednesday by the Director General of the National Sports Commission, Hon Gbenga Elegbeleye Nigeria protested to the organisers that the treatment to the Nigerian athletes were inhuman.

River In China Mysteriously Turns Bloody Red Overnight (PHOTOS)

A waterway in eastern China has mysteriously turned a blood red color.
Residents in Zhejiang province said the river looked normal at 5 a.m. Beijing time on Thursday morning. Within an hour, the entire river turned crimson. Residents also said a strange smell wafted through the air.
“The really weird thing is that we have been able to catch fish because the water is normally so clear,” one local villager commented on China’s microblogging site Weibo.

A Chinese waitress  shocked diners at the restaurant where she worked after she picked up a dead cockroach and ate it right it in front of them.

The bizarre incident began when a man, surnamed Zhang, went to a restaurant in Jinsha Era Plaza in Sichuan and found a cockroach in his salad. When Zhang complained about the cockroach, female staff, Jin Kuo, 39, instead engaged him in a heated argument, telling him it was 'perfectly normal' to find a cockroach in a restaurant.

 A woman was beaten to death in a McDonald's restaurant in China because she would not give her killers her phone number, reports say.

Gruesome footage of the incident in Zhaoyuan, eastern China, has been posted on the Internet.
It shows a man hitting the woman victim in the head with a metal bar as people watch on.
The woman, said to be a mother in her 20s, is heard screaming out in pain.
There were conflicting reports about why the woman was attacked, reports Metro.

One report claimed the attacker was angry she spurned his advances.

FATHER BEATS DAUGHTER TO DEATH FOR COPYING CLASSMATES HOMEWORK

A father in China is said to have killed his daughter after she copied homework from a classmate.
According to the official Xinhua news agency, the man “ordered the girl to kneel down, tied her hands and beat her”.
The 11-year-old girl stopped breathing while the assault was going on and the father took her to the hospital but it was too late as she died the next day.
According to reports:

    Doctors at the hospital in Hangzhou found bruises and injuries on the girl’s neck and back and signs she had been choked for as long as five minutes, the Xiandai Jinbao said.
    The incident is the latest in a series of child abuse incidents in China that have drawn widespread outrage.

A devastated mother has begged doctors to perform surgery after her baby grew a five-inch tail. Five-month-old Nuo Nuo was born with spina bifida, a developmental congenital disorder which leaves a gap in the spine. Within days of his birth his distraught mother noticed a tail beginning to grow and now the child has a very apparent growth.
Fearing for the future of her son, Nuo Nuo’s mother has urged surgeons in Changsha, China, to find a way to remove it.

This has to be one of the weirdest festivals ever! During spring in Japan, every year, people flock to Kawasaki to celebrate Kanamara Matsuri aka the "Festival of the Steel Phallus."

Held this year on April 6, the festival is a celebration of the penis and fertility in a no-holds-barred kind of way. And it is carried out in a carnivalesque, friendly atmosphere that puts a smile on the face of every visitor.
People parade gigantic phallic-shaped mikoshi (portable Shinto shrines) down the streets during the event, as revelers suck on penis lollipops, buy penis-themed memorabilia and pose with sculptures in the shape of -- you guessed it -- penises.

A Chinese woman has been arrested after she allegedly tried to chop off her son's hand with a meat cleaver during a furious row with her husband at the family home in Shanghai. Mingmei Sun, 34, was annoyed that her husband had not come home earlier to help the boy with his homework, leaving her to do it instead, police said. A furious row erupted that resulted in her husband Tu, 36, walking away and locking himself in the bedroom.
Frustrated and furious that her husband was ignoring her she grabbed eight-year-old Mingming, who had been crying in the corner while his parents argued, and then got a meat cleaver and pulled him into the kitchen. She then put the boy's hand on the kitchen table and allegedly tried to chop it off.

A Chinese high school student apparently committed suicide while preparing for a lesson according to a video uploaded online.
The pupil was shown sitting motionless for a while before making it to the window reportedly killing himself. The reaction of his fellow students and the chaos which followed backs up the claim that the boy leapt from a window.
The that part of the classroom where the boy made the leap is out of shot.

According to the doctors' version the breathing problems started when the leech had probably grown in size in the girl’s throat after sucking on her blood.

Good Samaritan Commits Suicide After Being Wrongly Accused

Brother WU, a good Samaritan, who was wrongly accused of running over a man he tried to help has committed suicide.
Brother Wu, 46 found the old man lying on the road, while riding his motorbike in Heyuan, China, according to eChinacities.com.
The news site said Brother Wu, helped the old man to the hospital where he alerted his family, only for the family to call Brother Wu back a few days later demanding he pay compensation for causing the old man's injuries.
His wife said he committed suicide soon after because he felt he had no other option.

A Chinese man had to seek medical assistance after he got a glass bottle stuck in his anus and failed to pull it out.
The man arrived at a hospital complaining of stomach pains, saying he had no idea what caused the discomfort.
X-ray examination, however, revealed there was a bottle and a curved piece of wire lodged in the man's abdomen. Eventually, the man confessed that he inserted the bottle at home, but was unable to remove it.
