A Chinese Construction worker Has been arrested for holding his girlfriend hostage on a rooftop for over 5 hours after her parents reportedly refused to approve their marriage.
Hundreds of onlookers and armed police watched as he stripped himself to his underwear and ordered his girlfriend to do same, so she would be shamed in front of her neighbors.
announcing he was going to kill her, he claimed the 29-year-old girlfriend regularly had affairs when he went to work.
At a point, the 32-year-old man identified as Lin stripped himself completely naked.
He held his girlfriend by the throat and weaved the meat cleaver in the air, as trained negotiators tried to talk him down from the roof of the quiet residential block.Even his relatives brought to the scene to talk him down had no luck.
surrounded by police and soldiers he finally demanded a getaway car for him and his girlfriend.
The police eventually provided one, still holding on to his terrified partner he put his jeans back on and climbed down from the roof into the city square.
As he made his way to the car the police gave chase, managed to pull him away from his girlfriend and throw him to the ground.
He was eventually handcuffed topless in front of hundreds of onlookers and led away.
The man now faces a lengthy jail term.
According to reports not even his parents had approved of the marriage.
