The incident which occurred at the headquarters of the State Security Service has left many Nigerians in shock as to how the bedrock of national security was left vulnerable to terrorists.

The shootout between security operatives and Boko Haram members which occurred yesterday morning is said to have claimed the lives of 21 militants while 2 SSS officers sustained injuries.

While there is no concrete account of how the attack began, most sources state that it was an attempted jailbreak.

Operatives of the Joint Task Force in the Niger Delta code named Operation Pulo Shield have arrested two Britons and 12 Nigerian technicians over their alleged involvement in illegal bunkering along the Chanomi Creek in the western delta.

The suspects were said to have   offered the operatives of the JTF  the sum of $66,500, to create safe passage for them to siphon crude oil into their barges from a Shell Petroleum Development Company pipeline along the Chanomi creek in Delta State.   But the offer was rejected.

Presidency Will Not Probe DIEZANI...... Doyin Okupe Says!

 The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Public Affairs, Dr. Doyin Okupe said on Friday, that the Federal Government would not set up a probe panel to investigate the minister because the House of Representatives was currently probing her.

Alison-Madueke was alleged to have spent N10bn on a chartered Challenger 850 aircraft in two years for which the House of Representatives is currently probing her.
Okupe said that the Federal Government could not institute a probe panel on matters that had not been substantiated.

World Bank Approves $200m Loan For Lagos

 A statement issued by the bank in Abuja on Thursday said the $200m was to support reforms pertaining to fiscal sustainability, budget planning, budget execution and the investment climate in the state.
According to the bank, the loan is the first in a proposed series of two development policy operations and builds upon the policy reforms initiated under a previous World Bank supported programme.

Over the last decade, Lagos State has undertaken a wide range of reforms that have improved governance, reduced crime and helped to bring millions out of poverty, the bank said.

Cameroon Arrests Three Suspected Boko Haram Weapon Suppliers

Cameroon said on Thursday it had arrested three men suspected of being arms traffickers that supply Boko Haram.
This information has been disclosed to the AFP by a Cameroonian police official on condition of anonymity. The men were caught in the far north of the country on Wednesday, March 26 near the border with Nigeria where the Islamist group has been waging a brutal armed insurgency.

    "Members of the BIR (an elite rapid-response unit of Cameroon's army) and the police found a significant stock of arms including a kalashnikov and rocket launchers near Goulfey," the official said.

Ibadan, Oyo State - Abdul-Kareem Olalere had to jump from Mokola Flyover Bridge to avoid being robbed by armed hoodlums who were chasing him.

Mr. Olalere, a principal agent at Premier Logo Company, now has his left arm broken, but his money (N300,000) and other personal belongings are intact. He was lucky to survive the risky high fall and not to be hit by the vehicles on the ever-busy Mokola road.

Speaking from his hospital bed, Mr. Olalere explained he had to take the risk or be shot by the armed robbers. He says he noticed he was being followed while riding on a commercial motorcycle. A German Catholic bishop faced pressure to resign on Wednesday after it emerged that his new palatial residence would cost £25m, over six times the original estimate.

Two women abducted by Boko Haram insurgents in the North-East have given a rare account of what life was for them as captives in the camp of the dreaded sect.

While one of the lady who was held captive for about 15 days, said she had a marriage proposal from one of the Boko Haram militants, the other said she was almost turned into a killer.

“They were slitting people’s throats with knives. Both women and men were killed, especially the men who didn’t agree to fight for them. Those that tried to escape were shot but they hardly ever used their guns to kill. They usually used knives. About 50 people were killed right in front of me.”

4 Years Without S*x - Court Dissolves Marriage

A Mapo Customary Court in Ibadan on Tuesday dissolved the marriage contract between one Emmanuel Nubi and Gloria for starving him sex.
The President of the court, Mr Ezekiel Ogundipe, held that from all indications the couple was no longer compatible as husband and wife.
Ogundipe, therefore, dissolved the marriage, and awarded custody of the child to the father.
He ordered the petitioner to pay the sum of N5, 000 to the respondent to enable her to quit the matrimonial home.

Reports in some domestic media today which quoted President Goodluck Jonathan as "confirming" in Amsterdam that the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) wrongly withheld $10 Billion from the federation account  are completely false and a total distortion of the President's comments during his meeting with the Nigerian community in the Netherlands.

At no time during the well-attended reception did President Jonathan also confirm any "irregularities" in the NNPC.

Ibadan Evil Forest!!: 72-Year-Old Rescued Victim Disappears

About 23 victims were rescued by the Police in an abandoned building with skeletons and skulls scattered all over in Soka, Oluyole LGA of Oyo State.

One of the victims, Mrs Cecilia Obaikhena who was rescued has however disappeared again.

72-year-old Cecilia disappeared on Saturday evening while rescue workers were gathering her fellow victims.

According to an eyewitness, Cecilia walked away while rescuers were busy with other victims who were too frail to walk.
