PLAINVIEW, TX – A 13-year-old boy was suspended from school after he was caught reading the Bible during recess. Plainview Middle School says Joshua Patterson violated school policy by reading the Bible in school.

School officials say the student was warned several times that he could not practice religion during school hours, but refused to comply. A letter was sent home to the child’s parents warning them that Joshua could be suspended or even expelled if he continued this behavior.

Patterson’s parents, who are devout Christians, told their son to continue reading his Bible because it was his Constitutional right. Megan and Daniel Patterson say they intend to file a lawsuit against Plainview Middle School.

 A 35-year-old man, Yinka Offehin, is battling for his life at a private hospital in Lagos State after his scrotum was cut by the children of his landlady.

The Edo State indigene, who resides on Popoola Street, off Abaranje Road in the Ikotun area of Lagos, was said to have been attacked while sleeping in his room with his family members.

His wife, Bisi, who was with him when the incident happened, identified the assailants as Solomon and Damilola, the children of the landlady.

    She said, “On Thursday morning, around 3am, while we were sleeping, we heard loud bangs on our door. We initially thought they were armed robbers because the house beside ours had recently been robbed.“When they entered, we saw they were children of our landlady. They began destroying our electronics and other property.

Criminal charges were filed on Wednesday against a 32-year-old man accused of molesting a 19-year-old woman while she was asleep on an international flight from Detroit to Amsterdam.

Dickens is only facing charges now, more than three years later, because he spent years outside of the United States, returning a little more than one-year ago.

Al-Makura Impeachment: Nasarawa Lawmakers Want Investigative Panel Dissolved

The Nasarawa State House of Assembly has called for the dissolution of the investigative panel set up to look into the allegations against the State Governor, Tanko Al-Makura.

The panel, headed by Mr Yusuf Usman, was set up by the Nasarawa State Chief Judge, Justice Suleiman Dikko, to investigate the 16-count impeachment charges levelled against the Governor by the lawmakers.

Speaking at a press briefing in Abuja, the Chairman of the House Committee on Information, Mr Mohammed Ibaku, said that the panel lacks the credibility to carry out their duty.

OSUN ELECTIONS: Rice, Kerosene Distribution Not For Election - PDP

The Osun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party has said it has been distributing food items and kerosene to residents of the state for years, especially during festive periods, before it began its campaign for the forthcoming governorship election.


The Publicity Secretary of Osun PDP, Mr. Bola Ajao, told our correspondent that the party has been distributing several tonnes of rice, litres of kerosene, to show that it cares for the people, and denied insinuations that the party was using such items to induce voters.

REVEALED: PRESIDENCY SHARED N22.4M TO CHIBOK PARENTS AND ESCAPED GIRLS --- KIBAKI COMMUNIT`Y

The Chibok community leadership refuted allegations that it was given N100m to share to the parents and women, adding that it did not handle or receive any money from the Presidency.

The association in a press statement signed by its Spokesman, Dauda Ilya, in Abuja on Wednesday, said that 63 individuals comprising 51 escaped girls were given N100,000 each, 51 parents equally received N100,000 each and another 61 parents got N200,000 each.

The community stated that 10 parents out of the 122 that took part in the meeting with Jonathan did not receive any money.

The senator representing Edo North Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Domingo Obende, has said the senate jettisoned impeachment moves against President Goodluck Jonathan in the interest of stability.

Early Tuesday morning July 29th, a man was found dead head down inside a well (pictured above) with his slippers beside the well in a house at Akanyn street, Shibiri Rd, Ilemba in Ojo, Ajangbadi, Lagos.

Many residents of the house had fetched water from the well and even made use of the water before someone discovered there was a corpse inside it. When he was eventually pulled from the well, he was recognized as someone who lived around..a carpenter whose wife recently left him. Some people claimed to have seen him the previous day, very drunk. No one knew how he fell into the well.

A new controversy is brewing in Chibok village, with parents of the abducted girls alleging that they have been shortchanged by Chibok community leaders who received N100million cash gift from the Presidency, on their behalf.

Channels TV reports:
Although a presidential aide denied any such gift to Chibok parents, through their leaders, one parent, Mr Abdu Halidu, told the BBC that he got only N200, 000 from the money.
Now the parents of the missing girls are saying that the amount shared to them is unacceptable. According to Mr Halidu “I got only N200, 000 out of the said N100 million. Some of us got N300,000 and some less than that. Our leaders in Abuja are using the girls to enrich themselves and this is unacceptable.”

 For several months, a Nigerian lawyer in Chicago, Illinois, United States, Mr Lanre Amu, tried to get the attention of the American media but no one was willing to tell his story or help him get his law licence back.

A 16-year-old Nigerian weightlifter failed a doping test after becoming the youngest ever female to win a Commonwealth Games gold medal in the sport, organizers said Tuesday.

Chika Amalaha has been provisionally suspended from the Glasgow Games after testing positive for diuretics and masking agents after winning the 53-kilogram (117-pound) division last Friday.

REVEALED: 59 People Had Contacts With The Liberian Who Died Of Ebola Virus In Lagos

Commissioner for Health, Dr Jide Idris, said at a news conference in Ikeja that the contact tracing became imperative to ascertain any possible transmission of the virus by the victim.


Idris said the identified contacts comprised 44 hospital and 15 airport contacts, including the Nigerian Ambassador to Liberia.

He said 20 of the contacts had been screened and that none of them had so far been found to be infected with the virus.

He, however, said the contacts did not include those he might have been with on his flight to Nigeria on July 20, as the airline had yet to release the passenger manifest for investigation.

Pandemonium broke out in the Asipa community as an apprentice bricklayer, identified as Rasheed Sulaiman, was shot dead while testing the potency of a bullet-proof charm given to him by a herbalist.

A resident of Asipa, a community in the Ife North Local Government Area, told PUNCH Metro that Sulaiman, on Saturday called his cousin, Siji, to follow him to a secluded place to test the charm. Ebola Kills Top Liberian Doctor, American Infected

One of Liberia's most high-profile doctors has died of Ebola, officials said Sunday, and an American physician was being treated for the deadly virus, highlighting the risks facing health workers trying to combat an outbreak that has killed more than 670 people in West Africa — the largest ever recorded.

Dr. Samuel Brisbane was treating Ebola patients at the country's largest hospital, the John F. Kennedy Memorial Medical Center in Monrovia, when he fell ill. He died Saturday, said Tolbert Nyenswah, an assistant health minister. A Ugandan doctor died earlier this month.

The American, 33-year-old Dr. Kent Brantly, was in Liberia helping to respond to the outbreak that has killed 129 people nationwide when he fell ill, according to the North Carolina-based medical charity, Samaritan's Purse.

A couple who locked a woman and her daughter in a snake pit and repeatedly tortured them for two years are now in a prison. Ohio, USA.

Cruelty of some people has no limits. 27-year-old Jordie Callahan and 32-year-old Jessica Hunt cooped up a mentally Shannon Eckley and her daughter for nearly two years in their snake pit. The "modern slaves" shop, cook and clean up after them and their dogs.

River In China Mysteriously Turns Bloody Red Overnight (PHOTOS)

A waterway in eastern China has mysteriously turned a blood red color.
Residents in Zhejiang province said the river looked normal at 5 a.m. Beijing time on Thursday morning. Within an hour, the entire river turned crimson. Residents also said a strange smell wafted through the air.
“The really weird thing is that we have been able to catch fish because the water is normally so clear,” one local villager commented on China’s microblogging site Weibo.
