As the #bringbackourgirls campaign gathers momentum
Forty eminent personalities from all over the world have joined the #BringBackOurGirls cause to demand the release of the over 200 girls abducted from Chibok in Borno, Nigeria.
The individuals, which include billionaires, Aliko Dangote, Richard Branson and Bill Gates,  made their minds known through an open letter where they called for a global effort to ensure that the girls return home safely.

The letter reads:

    “On April 14, more than 200 schoolgirls were abducted at gunpoint from Chibok community in Borno State, Nigeria.
    24 days later, the girls are still missing.

A SHORT WORD FOR MY NUMEROUS DETRACTORS

The truth is that most of those that choose to misunderstand, misrepresent, criticise and insult me are not even capable of reading more than three lines of my submissions and essays. Neither can they speak, write or understand good english.

My submissions and positions on various national and international issues are, more often than not, way above their comprehension level and neither do they have the wealth and depth of knowledge or the access to information that I do. That is why I usually ignore them.

NORTHERN NIGERIAN CHRISTIAN ASSOCIATION ALLEGES CONSPIRACY IN CHIBOK ABDUCTIONS

In a statement released on Wednesday, 7 May,  the Northern Nigerian Chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) expressed reservations and allegations of conspiracy in the Chibok schoolgirls abduction.

The chapter said they believe the kidnapping is a conspiracy involving the governor of the state, Kashim Shettima, the principal of the school, the chief security officer of Borno & the commissioner for Education. In the statement, they asked how 300+ girls can disappear into air without any trace and where the daughters of the principal, vice principal & CSO of the state were when the kidnapping took place, and why no single photograph of the Chibok girls has been made public by school authorities. A young Boko Haram member was arrested by soldiers .The arrest was made by Soldiers on internal security operation.According to The Sun,The boy, according to the Director, Defense Information, was arrested during a cordon-and-search operation at Any­ibe in Logo Local Government Area of Benue State.

Two rifles, three locally fabricated pistols and 61 rounds of special ammunition were said to have been recovered from the teenager during the operation.The arrested gang member was also said to be undergoing interrogation in custody.

A disturbing video which allegedly shows one of the abducted Chibok girls being executed appeared today, May 8, on various blogs and sites around the web.
In the video a gang of Boko Haram members forced a girl to climb into a hole in the ground, somewhere that appears to be a rural area. They tied her legs with a rope and put a black piece of cloth on her head.
The terrorists filled the hole where the girl was with sand and left only her head above the ground. The men spoke briefly in Hausa language while the girl was whimpering and begging for her life to be spared.

PRESIDENT JONATHAN HAS NO EXCUSE AS A PRESIDENT - WOLE SOYINKA TO CNN ON CHIBOK GIRLS

 Nobel prize winner, Professor Wole Soyinka  was on CNN yesterday evening  where he spoke to Amanpour Over the kidnapped of the Chibok school girls and here is part of what he had to say;
“This is a government which is not only in denial mentally, but in denial about certain obvious steps to take.”
“It’s one of those rather child-like situations that if you shut your eyes, if you don’t exhibit the tactile evidence of the missing humanity here, that somehow the problem will go away.”
It is not just “a Nigerian problem. I’m calling for the international community, the United Nations – this is a problem. This is a global problem.
And a foothold is being very deeply entrenched in West Africa.” Soyinka said.

STEPHEN KESHI RELEASES PROVISIONAL LIST FOR 2014 WORLD CUP

The much awaited provisional 30-man list for the upcoming 2014 World Cup to be held in Brazil has been finally released, Premium Times reports.
As it was previously promised, the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, announced the squad submitted by Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi, Tuesday evening.

US TO DEPLOY TROOPS TO RESCUE ABDUCTED GIRLS

Dr, Reuben Abati, The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity,  on Tuesday announced that President Goodluck Jonathan, has accepted the offer of President of the United States of America, Barrack Obama, to assist Nigerian troops in rescuing the 234 school girls that were abducted by Boko Haram sect, from Government Girls Secondary School, Chibok, Borno State.
The offer was made through the US Secretary of State, mr. John Kerry, through a phone conversation with President Goodluck Jonathan according to Abati.
"President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Tuesday welcomed and accepted a definite offer of help from the United States of America in the ongoing effort to locate and rescue the girls abducted from the Government Girls Secondary School, Chibok three weeks ago" he said.

BARAK OBAMA CALLS FOR UNITED ACTION AGAINST BOKO HARAM

WASHINGTON: US President Barack Obama on Tuesday urged global action against Nigerian Islamic militants, as Washington sent in military experts to help track down more than 200 girls seized in a "heartbreaking" kidnapping.

Obama confirmed that Nigerian leaders had accepted a US offer to deploy experts there, saying "we've already sent in a team to Nigeria," consisting of "military, law enforcement, and other agencies."

"It's a heartbreaking situation, outrageous situation," Obama told US broadcaster ABC.

But "this may be the event that helps to mobilize the entire international community to finally do something against this horrendous organization that's perpetrated such a terrible crime," he said.

CHIBOK: PARENTS OF SOME OF THE ABDUCTED GIRLS GO ON HUNGER STRIKE

The  Community Head of Chibok, Mr. Hosaih Sambido, on Tuesday in Abuja said some parents of the abducted girls have embarked on hunger strike to protest against the incident. Punch reports that Sambido said this when former Minister of Education, Mrs. Oby Ezekwesili, led a protest to the Defence Headquarters to demand the urgent release of the girls.

Sambido, who broke into tears while pleading for help from the military, said the development had instilled fear among female students in the area. He said some parents have refused to eat as a result of the development.
