German football association (DFB) president, Wolfgang Niersbach, has confirmed that one of Germany's team players has accidentally damaged the World Cup trophy.
On July 13 the European players were given a trophy by FIFA after they had beaten Argentina 1-0 in the final of the 2014 Mundial.

However, Joachim Low’s men  have been celebrating the victory so hard,  they  even toured Berlin with the trophy, and in the process seem to have caused damage to the piece of art, goal.com reports.
Niersbach was quoted saying:

Diego Maradona has admitted that his compatriot Lionel Messi, did not deserve the Golden Ball award he received, after the 2014 World Cup ended on Sunday.
FIFA announced the Argentina forward, ahead of Thomas Muller, Arjen Robben and James Rodriguez, as winner of the prestigious individual award.
Messi scored four times in seven matches, but Maradona says it is not enough and he won it for commercial reasons.

“Messi? I would give him heaven if possible,” Maradona said during his show on Telesur.
“But it’s not right when someone wins something that he shouldn’t have won just because of some marketing plan.”

 The most valuable and ex­pensive World Cup ever will earn billions of dol­lars for FIFA, millions for the competing countries and thousands for the more than 700 players selected.

From the near $4.5 billion in revenue from broadcasters, sponsors, hospitality and licens­ing deals, FIFA distributes just over $400 million to the 32 na­tional federations taking part in the tournament.

Though she said it was taken 1 year ago,thousands of animal rights activists petitioned to L'oreal and their spokesperson officially confirmed to the Independent they have cut ties with her..

This Nurse Was fired for filming Neymar in hospital (PICTURED)

  


A nurse who filmed Brazilian striker Neyma being wheeled around on a hospital trolley has been fired, according to an article on Brazilan football site UOL.

The nurse has been criticized for, not only recording the football star in that state but also for blowing kisses to the camera afterwards and laughing. She then posted the video to her Facebook page.  The hospital management did not find it funny and have  released a statement saying the nurse, named Chintia, has been fired.

 22 year old Super Eagles midfielder, Michael Babatunde, was taken off in the second half of Wednesday's game against Argentina with his arm in a cast. Most of us didn't really know it was that serious.  A scan after the match showed that he literally broke his arm after being hit by a fierce shot from Ogenyi Onazi. (see pic on the left). It was a battle royal, well fought by the Super Eagles, even though they were defeated by Argentina.
At full time it was Nigeria 2 - Argentina 3.  Argentina picked up the 3 points to top the group with 9 points, Bosnia & Herzegovina's defeat of Iran by 3 goals to 1, gave the Super Eagles the second place slot in the group with 4 points.
Nigeria is therefore the first African side to book za spot in 2014 World Cup.

A COMPANY was left red-faced after mistaking US president Barack Obama for England defender Chris Smalling on a set of cups intended to be World Cup merchandise.

The unnamed company had intended to produce mugs with the photos of England’s players but on several of the mugs, there is a picture of Obama wearing the England football top. The caption underneath the Obama image read 'Chris Smalling World Cup squad Brazil 2014'.
