Armed Herdsmen Lay Siege To Enugu-Nsukka Road

ENUGU- ARMED herdsmen have continued to launch attacks on motorists and passengers plying Enugu-Nsukka Road almost on daily basis, Vanguard’s investigation has shown.

The bandits, suspected to be Fulani herdsmen, have left several passengers wounded, while others have lost cash and valuables.

Narrating their ordeal to Vanguard, some of the victims called on the police to beef up security on dreaded portions of the road.

In the latest attack, a victim, who identified herself as Mrs. Salome Nnadi, a teacher at Queen of the Rosary Secondary School, Nsukka, recounted how they were ambushed and robbed along Ugwuogo-Nike-Opi Road, a few kilometres from Enugu.

Man Stabs Mother To Death in Enugu

Enugu—Enugu State police command has arrested a middle-aged man for allegedly stabbing his mother to death.

The incident took place while the woman was sleeping in the early hours of last Thursday at Ubiekpo Abor in Udi local government area of Enugu State.

Enugu State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Mr. Ebere Amaraizu, however, in a statement issued yesterday, alluded to the fact that the man might be mentally deranged and that he had since been arrested.

The PPRO said: “Operatives of the state criminal investigations of the Enugu State command of the Nigeria Police Force have commenced a full scale investigation to unravel the mystery and circumstances surrounding the alleged stabbing to death of a woman by the son on October 2, 2014, at about 5am.

Enugu State University, ESUT, Invaded By Gunmen, 3 Students Shot

THREE students of the Enugu State University of Science and Technology, ESUT, Agbani were, Friday night, shot and wounded by suspected armed bandits who invaded their hostel.

The students were undergoing treatment at the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital, UNTH, Ituku-Ozalla, Enugu, where they were rushed to in the early hours of yesterday.
The father of one of the students said  his son was undergoing surgery at the hospital.

Bride, Groom Shot Dead On Wedding Eve In Enugu

Gunmen in Enugu suspected to be cult members shot and killed a couple at a filling station as they waited in their car to buy fuel. The couple   who were finalizing preparations for their wedding the next day, Saturday, 6th September, died on the spot. Vanguard reports

A man and woman set to be joined in holy matrimony in Enugu were, yesterday, shot dead by gunmen suspected to be cult members.

Three other persons including the manager of a filling station were shot dead during the sporadic shooting by the unknown assailants who had laid siege on Abakpa and Trans-Ekulu area of Enugu.

The incident occurred Friday night at a filling station close to Dhamija Bridge opposite Our Lord’s Chosen Church, Trans-Ekulu on the Enugu – Onitsha Expressway.

Enugu Churches Screen Worshippers To Prevent Terrorist Attacks

In the aftermath of foiled bombing attempt on Winner’s Chapel in Imo State, churches in Enugu have begun to take pre-cautionary measures to guard against potential attacks from Boko Haram insurgents.
For instance, the Catholic Diocese of Enugu conducts thorough screening of members before allowing them to enter church on Sundays, Vanguard reports. In addition, the church has reportedly banned women from carrying handbags into church.

The Police in Enugu State have arrested one Timothy Ngwu, the General Overseer of Vineyard Ministry of the Holy Trinity, located at Ihe/Owerre, Nsukka in Enugu State.Before his arrest on Friday, the self acclaimed Pastor, who said he was obeying God’s command, has put no less than 20 members of his church in a family way.

According to  DailyPost , the spokesman of the Enugu State Police Command, Ebere Amaraizu, DSP, disclosed that

     "the pastor claims to be obeying prophetic/spiritual injunction to do the will of God, which is to impregnate any one chosen and revealed by the Holy Spirit, irrespective of whether the woman is married or not.When the woman is delivered of the baby, the child remains in the ministry with the mother for life”

Pro-Biafra group attempts to seize Enugu Radio, kills police sergeant

ENUGU–Members of the Pro-Biafra group, Biafra Zionists Federation, BZF led by Barrister Benjamin Onwuka, who attacked the Government House, Enugu on March 8, struck again in the early hours of Thursday at the Enugu State Broadcasting Service, ESBS in an attempt to seize the radio and television station for a broadcast.

The move was however foiled by a team of policemen who were alerted by some staff of the station who arrived for the morning duty and met their premises under siege.

But a police sergeant and a member of BZF were killed in a shootout while a police inspector who led the team was seriously wounded.

Chinelu Huma a 22-year-old prostitute has been arrested by the Enugu State Police for selling her one-month-old baby to a childless 43-year-old woman
The baby was sold to 43-year-old Ugochukwu who has been unable to conceive.
Chinelo told the Sun:

    "I am a prostitute. When I became pregnant and it was close to nine months, my boyfriend rejected it. I decided to sell the baby. When I gave birth on April 13, 2014, one lady whose name is Maria Asomba, arranged for the baby to be sold to Mrs. Nkechi Ugochukwu, and she paid N430, 000, but Asomba gave me N150,000.
