Confusion In Osun As Students Wear Religious Attire To School
Students of Baptist High School, Iwo, Osun State, yesterday Tuesday February 4th registered their protest against the State government new policy on education for the introduction of the Unified School Uniforms for all schools irrespective of religious beliefs.
To drive home their point some students came to school wearing their religious apparels such as hijab, choir robes, white garments, fetish veils and orunmila attires, refusing to wear the government approved uniform.
During assembly they sang songs associated with their various religious beliefs.
The students of school, which is a Christian school, were reportedly protesting the government policy which allows Muslim Students to wear hijab to Christian mission public schools.
This new government policy on education, of reclassification of schools was introduced last year. The policy has been causing problems as it lead to the merger of some schools, because some of these schools are faith -based.
The Christian schools do not want to see hijab wearing Muslims in their schools, but the government has legalized it.
