Lagos Employs 80 Female LAGBUS Drivers

Lagos State Government continues to empower women as promised, the government through the Lagos Bus Asset Management Company, LAGBUS, the company made known to the public yesterday that it had  employed additional 80 women as mass transit drivers,  as part of its effort to empower women in the state.

This came as it commenced training of 998 drivers of LAGBUS on accident prevention skills.

281 Fake NYSC Members Kicked Out Of Orientation Camp

 The National Youth Service Corps in Niger State has identified and subsequently kicked out 281 fake corps members from the orientation camp.

The State’s coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps, Mr Stephen Ehoda-adi disclosed this while speaking to journalists shortly after 2014 Batch ‘B’ orientation exercise that took place in Paiko.

He said that the 281 fake corps members were unable to present their call-up letters, and were subsequently thrown out of the camp

Ehoda-adi also added that those affected had nothing to show as having qualified for admission into the camp.

Alfred Ajani a 22 year old Nigerian graduate has been inundated with offers of interviews after taking a radical approach to job hunting, Daily Mail reports.

Alfred said he's applied for over 300 positions since getting a degree in marketing in May this year and has been unlucky. Determined to land his dream job, he decided to hand out CVs to company bosses commuting into the City of London through Waterloo Station this morning.

Alfred stood at the entrance to the busy station holding a sign stating: 'Marketing graduate (BA Hons 2:1 Coventry Uni) Ask for CV.' His direct approach received a warm response from commuters, with many stopping to discuss potential positions.

The staggering statis­tics of unemployed Nigerians, as released by the government recently, coupled with the sac­rifice of his poor parents, who had predictably looked forward to a better life after their son’s graduation, could only accen­tuate Olanrewaju’s (not real name) anxiety.

Olanrewaju, a graduate of Business Administration finally returns to Lagos after his service year to face the inevitable challenge of life after school. A typical day for him began with a visit to a nearby newspaper stand, where he would jot down names and addresses of organi­sations where vacancies existed.

Dr Emmanuel Tesola, chairman of the Delta State Civil Service, on a courtesy visit  to Delta State House of Assembly Speaker, mr. Emmanuel Onwusanya, has revealed that of the 126,000 people that applied for jobs into the Delta State Civil Service only 980 would be employed.
sating that the State only has opening for 980 people at the moment.
126,000 people had applied for jobs into the Delta State Civil Service, at a recruitment exercise which ended on the 7th of February.

UPDATE: President Jonathan To Sack Interior Minister, Abba Moro Over Immigration Service Recruitment Deaths

 The reality of the situation on ground has hit President Goodluck Jonathan and his cabal really hard. Reactions upon reactions from virtually all corners of Nigeria since last Saturday have condemned the government of the day for sacrificing the lives of young jobless Nigerians all because of a "stupid immigration job".

President Jonathan has realised that his government's lack of focus in the area of job creation was exposed on Saturday by the Immigration recruitment exercise where over 56,000 jobless youths gathered in just one of the stadiums, he consequently summoned the Minister of Interior, Abba Moro, as well as the Comptroller General of the Nigerian Immigration Service, David Parradang on Monday.

NANS Condemns Immigration Service Recruitment Deaths, Calls For Sack of Minister, Comptroller General

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Zone B has called for the sacking of the Minister of Interior, Mr. Abba Moro, as well as the Comptroller General of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), David Shikfu Parradang.
The demand is contained in a statement signed by Pedro C. Obi, Public Relations Officer, in reaction to last Saturday’s death of several youths at various NIS job centres across the country.
Expressing total shock and bewilderment over NIS exercise, the students criticized the officials for gross incompetence and lack of common sense.
“The overall turnout of millions of Nigerian youths as job seekers for a mere 3,000 job slot in the Nigerian Immigration Services is another attestation of the present pathetic situation facing our youths and graduates in Nigeria,” NANS said.

Question papers!!! Can you believe that? Too bad, tell me which reasonable organisation shares question papers like that?

500 Immigration officials could have comfortably shared those question papers and all those deaths would have been avoided.What a Country!!!
