Gunmen Attack Kogi Prison, Set 145 Inmates Free

Gunmen suspected to members of Boko Haram, on Sunday night attacked  the Koton-Karfe Minimum Prison in Kogi State setting free all 145 inmates in the four cells. 12 out of the 145 prisoners set free have freely returned to the prison. This the second time the prison will be attacked in 2 years. Vanguard reports

The terrorists, suspected to be members of Boko Haram sect, were said to have arrived the prison around 9p.m., in four Hilux vehicles, raided the prison for more than two hours unchallenged, freed the inmates and vandalized the record office.

Kogi Univerdity Lecturer Accused Of Terrorism To Know Fate March 7

The ruling on the bail application by a Kogi State University lecturer, Muhammad Nazeef, who was accused of terrorism, was on Friday postponed to March 7.

Mr. Nazeef was arrested by the Department of State Security Service, SSS, over links with the dreaded Boko Haram sect.

He had applied for bail with the ruling initially scheduled to be delivered on Friday.

The ruling did not hold at the Federal High Court, Abuja as scheduled by the presiding judge, Gabriel Kolawale, because of a valedictory service.

A court clerk who spoke to PREMIUM TIMES at the court said Friday’s ruling was rescheduled for March 7 because most judges at the Federal High Court attended the valedictory service of retired judges.

Police arrest Secondary School cultists who issued death threats to Kogi Youth ‘Corpers’

Some students of Victory Model College, Efodo - Okpo, Olamaboro L. G. A of Kogi State have been arrested following complaints by some youth corpers who had received death threats from the students.
The students alleged to be cultists sent emails and wrote the threats on  the blackboard in the school.
