Just two days after it became legal to convert civil partnerships into marriages and nine years after they first exchanged vows for their civil partnership, Sir Elton John and David Furnish are getting married in a “small and intimate” ceremony at their home on the 21st of December.
According to Daily Mirror, the music megastar, 67, and his partner, 52, have invited 50 friends and family to their home to witness them tie the knot on December 21.
Guests are thought to include David and Victoria Beckham, Elizabeth Hurley and the Osbournes.
A friend said: “Elton and David have been planning this for months.
“Elton is flamboyant but, for once, this will be a decidedly low-key affair.
"Only close friends and family are invited – it’s going to be a small, intimate do.”
The couple’s sons, Zachary, three, and Elijah, one, are said to be ring bearers and the friend added: “It’s important to David and Elton the boys play a special part.”
Guests at the mansion, in Windsor, Berks, will be offered festive canapes and mulled wine will be flowing.
In 2005 the pair – now together for more than 20 years – became one of the first couples here to have a civil partnership.
That service was at Windsor Guildhall, before 650 guests, including Lulu and Ringo Starr, joined the couple for a champagne-fuelled knees-up at home.
