Politicians Offered DSS N14m To Compromise Osun Guber Poll, Says Ogar

SSS-spokesman-Marilyn Ogar

Ms Marilyn Ogar, the spokesperson  of the Department of State Services (DSS), said on Tuesday  that politicians in Osun offered operatives of the service N14 million  bribe to compromise the governorship election in the state.

Ogar made the allegation at the National Information Centre in Abuja while responding to a question on why the APC was at war with the service.

Ogar, however, said that service rejected the bribe money which, she said, was offered to the DSS Director, who was in charge of the Aug. 9 election, and his men.

She also declined to name the politicians who offered the bribe.

“I am saying to you that the director in charge of election duty as it pertains to DSS was asked to come and collect N4 million for self and N10 million for the hooded men.

“Because the money was declined, that is the offence the DSS has committed.

“People should stop using money to entice security forces; the Federal Government has the capability to take care of us, when the time comes, we will talk.

“We are well paid, I will say it categorically, our operations are well funded,’’ Ogar said.

She said that the federal government gave the service N200 million to provide security during the election.

According to her, before the DSS deployed its men and materials for any operation, they are paid up front, saying that they could not be induced with bribe.

“The rejection of the money brought a lot of misunderstanding between the political party involved and the DSS, but we held our high.

“The APC has won the election in Osun, we thank God that there is no bomb blast anywhere, and there will not be because there was enough security.

“I want to tell you there is a big man occupying a very sensitive position in Osun, the man should thank his God that it was not the DSS that arrested him with huge sum of money that he was found with,’’ she said.

Ogar expressed satisfaction that operatives of the service, among other security agencies, provided security to enable voters in the state to exercise their franchise.

“That is what we have done and the people who have won, have won. Because we insisted on providing a level playing ground, we were antagonised,’’ she said. (NAN)

Only N14m? So bribery is no longer a punishable offense in Nigeria? Why refuse to mention his name?
