A Nigerian teenager, Charles Okonkwo Jr., 18, with a history of psychiatric issues has been arrested for “hurting” his mother and his teenage brother, who was found dead at their home in Dix Hill, Long Island, New York on Sunday.
Charles was charged with felony second-degree assault in his mother’s beating and could face additional charges in the death of his teenage brother, whose body was found in his bedroom at the family’s home on Norman Court, authorities said.
At his arraignment in First District Court in Central Islip, Okonkwo Jr. was ordered held on $250,000 cash bail or $1 million bond.
Dr Okonkwo is currently receiving treatment at Stony Brook University Hospital, but is said to be in serious condition. She sustained serious trauma including facial fractures and loss of consciousness after been badly beaten.
This is terrible, it is like losing both sons on the same day!
