Woman Raped While Returning From T B Joshua's Vigil




A security guard employed by the Igando Landlord’s Association to guard the area has been accused of raping a 24-year-old lady, Tivere.
The accused, Kelly Ochuko was arraigned before an Ebute Meta Magistrate’s Court, Lagos State on two counts of rape.
The victim who had travelled to Lagos from Sapele in Delta state for pastor T.B Joshua's vigil programme at the Synagogue Church of All Nation was on her way back from the vigil when the accused accosted her at about 2am.


He reportedly threatened her with a cutlass and so she yielded and followed him to an uncompleted building where he sexually assaulted her. After which he pleaded with her to marry him and gave her his number.
After she left the uncompleted building, she ran into some policemen at the junction and told them what had happened.
The policemen were said to have plotted with Tivere to call Ochuko to see her off to the park where she would board a bus back to Sapele and the unsuspecting Ochuko came only to be arrested by the police.
According to the police prosecutor, Corporal Cyriacus Osuji, the offence was punishable under sections 258(1), 171 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, Nigeria, 2011.
Ochuko howevr pleaded not guilty to the charge and elected summary trial.
The magistrate, Ms Y.B Badejo-Okusanya, admitted him to bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum and the case was adjourned till March 4, 2014.
