Two members of a family are said to have died in Bauchi due to their involvement in witchcraft, after a native doctor administered charms on them
The native doctor said to have been called to investigate a series of bizarre happenings which had befallen a family. Allegedly uncovered four witches among them.
The suspected witches, one of them a pastor, were then told to confess their ‘crimes’ or die and 2 of them who refused to confess subsequently lost their lives.
The Daily Independent reports:
It was gathered that the incident which occurred in Zwall Village of Toro Local government area of Bauchi State involved the family Adamu Goni and a native doctor from Toro local government.
They had agreed to administer charms on four members of the family, including a pastor over their alleged involvement in witchcraft.
It was learnt that the family had been worried over the spate of calamities befalling its members, so it sought for solution by employing the services of a native doctor.
Trouble started when the native doctor administered his charms on four members of the family who were suspected to be involved in witchcraft activities with the aim of compelling them to confess their involvement in witchcraft.
But unfortunately out of the four people that were administered with the charms, the spell affected only two members of family who allegedly refused to confess their involvement in witchcraft, a situation that subsequently led to their death.
A security source in Bauchi said that two members of the family who refused to confess to the sin of witchcraft lost their lives as a result of the charms given to them by the native doctor.
According to the source, “two members of the family including a pastor who refused to admit to witchcraft involvement died after the native doctor administered the charms on them. Eight suspects have been arrested in connection with the incident and they are helping the police with valuable information”.
The source added that the native doctor was arrested by a police detective who got wind of the information and disguised as someone who needed some spiritual help.
When contacted, the State Police Public Relation Officer, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Haruna Mohammed, confirmed the incident saying, “eight people including the native doctor have been arrested by the police and they are at the State Criminal Investigation Department so we are still investigating on the cause of the death of two people”.
