'How I Survived Kano Central Mosque Blast' - 75-Year Old (PHOTO)
A 75-year-old survivor of the November 28 multiple bomb explosions in Kano, Alhaji Mohammed Isa Tiga, yesterday gave a bloodchilling account of the attack that rocked the city’s Central Mosque, saying he survived by Allah’s grace.
Speaking to Sunday Sun at the Accident and Emergency Unit of the Abdullahi Wase Specialist (Nassarawa) Hospital, the frail-looking man recounted that those responsible for the blasts came in a Toyota Sienna space wagon just as the Jumat prayers were about to start. He recalled seeing three of them, adding that while two sat at the back of the vehicle, only one was seated at the front.

PHOTOS: Over 200 Killed In Kano Mosque Bomb Explosions
No fewer than 200 died while about 270 were injured on Friday as the violent Boko Haram sect bombed the 10,000 capacity Central Mosque where the Emir, Alhaji Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, leads prayers.
About 10 gunmen went on a shooting spree after the blast at the mosque, which is close to the Emir of Kano’s palace. A rescue official, who spoke with AFP, put casualty figures at almost 400, adding that 120 were killed and 270 seriously injured in the three explosions that rocked the mosque.

Central Mosque in Kano was rocked by a huge explosion, this afternoon while Muslim faithfuls were holding the Friday Jumat service.
The Central Mosque happens to be the place of worship of the Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, fortunately he was not there to lead today's prayers.

Bomb Scare In Kano Polytechnic
There was pandemonium in Kano Polytechnic and Aminu Kano School of Legal studies over bomb scare in Kano.
The incident which occurred around 12.20pm saw students of the two tertiary institutions scampering for safety.

Emir Of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Cancels Eid Festivities After Bomb Attacks
Emir of Kano State, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi has cancelled Eid festivities marking the end of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan next week after a deadly church bombing and a female suicide bomber’s attempt to attack a university, an official said Sunday.

25-Year-Old Man Impregnates His Elder Sister, He Says It's A Mistake
A 25-year-old man, Shamsu Isa, confessed before the Kano senior magistrates’ court No 25 sitting in Nomans-Land, that he impregnated his 27-year-old sister, but that “the act was a mistake.”
According to the ward head of Takalmawa quarters in Kano, a report was made to police that Isa was having séxual intercourse with his elder sister.
The charge against him reads: “On July 4, the ward head of Takalmawa quarters reported at Jakara Division that on July 1, you, Shamsu Isa had séxual intercourse with your sister.”
However, the prosecution told the court that his sister, Naima Isa, aged 27 was pregnant, adding that she had a feeble mind...

29-Year-Old Man Arrested And Locked Up In Kano For Saying He Does NOT Believe In God (PICTURED)

A Nigerian man, Mubarak Bala, has been incarcerated in a mental health institution by his family for saying he had lost his belief in God.
Mubarak Bala, 29, is said to have been forcibly medicated for "insanity" for nearly two weeks, despite a doctor's opinion that he has no psychological problems.
Campaigners are calling for his release and say the case highlights the fact that atheists are a persecuted minority in many African countries.
Bala's Twitter account uses the handle "ExMuslim", and his profile says: "Chemical Process Engineer. I stand for Truth&Justice. Religion insults human conscience &reason, duped me that I have another lifetime. Agnostic Atheist."

Suspected Kano Bomber Arrested (PHOTO)

The Nigeria Police in Kano State has arrested a suspect in connection with Monday afternoon’s bomb blast at the Kano State School of Hygiene, BUK Road, which killed eight people and injured 12 others.
According to Kano State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Aderenle Shinaba, who spoke with journalists briefly after visiting the scene of the crime, investigations will begin immediately on the suspect’s motive for the act.
“The suspect is in our custody, and the vehicle he used for the operation has also been towed to the police headquarters," Shinaba said.

As emir of the northern city of Kano, Sanusi becomes the second-highest Islamic figure after the Sultan of Sokoto in Nigeria. He replaces Ado Bayero, who died on June 6 at the age of 83 after reigning more than half a century. Gov Kwankwaso, while speaking as the turbaning process said:
The appointment of an emir is not a political issue. It is unfortunate that some enemies of
Kano State attempted to politicise this process."

Kano Protests Announcement of Sanusi as new Emir, Kano Residents Riot (PHOTOS)
According by the tweets of Jamil Abubakar, Son of Inspector General of Police, riot has broken out in Kano state following the announcement of former CBN governor Alhaji Sanusi Lamido Sanusi as the new Emir of Kano. According to his tweets, Jamil says the people of Kano are not happy with the announcement and are causing trouble in the town. He however says the situation has been brought under control and no life was lost.
Some residents of Kano State on Sunday took to the street following the announcement of the former Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, as the Emir of Kano State.

A new Emir has just been announced for Kano and it is none other than the former governor of CBN, Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi.
The annucement was made by the secretary to the Kano State Government, Engr. Rabiu Sulaiman Bichi.
Kano State Governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, who made the announcement this afternoon, said the former Central Bank Governor was edged by four kingmakers from the Kano Emirate.
The recently ousted Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), was turbaned as the Dan Majen Kano last two years by the late Emir of Kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero.

NIGERIAN ARMY CLAIMS DISCOVERY OF FACILITY FOR ROCKET LAUNCHERS IN KANO
The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) says it has uncovered a rocket launcher production facility in Kano State.
According to Director of Defence Information, Major-General Chris Olukolade, the facility was discovered at Dorayi District in Kumbotso Local Government Area of the state, after a cordon-and-search exercise.
“The discovery followed the arrest of a prominent member of the terrorist group,” Olukolade said, adding that locally-made anti-aircraft gun and mortar accessories and rocket-propelled grenade tubes and launcher along with accessories were recovered.

63-YEAR OLD MAN TO BE STONED TO DEATH IN KANO FOR RAPING 10 YEAR OLD GIRL
A 63-year-old man in Kano has been sentenced to death by stoning for raping a 10 year-old girl and infecting her with AIDS.
An Islamic court gave the ruling after Ubale Sa'idu Dotsa admitted he raped her, claiming he was incited by the Devil, AP news reports.
Ubale's two wives had reportedly died from Aids-related diseases.
BBC reports that several people have been sentenced to death by stoning by Islamic courts in Northern Nigeria, but none have been carried out.

Female Banker Bag 5 Years! For Stealing N10m, To Pay Bank N13m (PICTURED)
A Kano State High Court Judge, yesterday sentenced a former banker with Mainstreet Bank, Hadiza Mustafa to five years imprisonment for diverting a customer’s N10m for personal use. Hadiza who was arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC alongside Mahmud Sule on a 10-count charge that borders on forgery and theft of depositor’s fund, was convicted on 9 of the counts.

Kano State Government Begins Media Campaign Against Rapists
The Kano State Government has approved money for media campaign against increasing rate of rape cases in the state.
The state Commissioner for Justice, Alhaji Maliki Kuliya, told newsmen in Kano on Monday.
Kuliya said the measure was necessary in order to sensitise the public on the problem as no fewer than 100 rape cases were recorded in Kano state between November and December, 2013.
He said Gov. Rabi’u Kwankwaso approved the money during the meeting of the state executive council last week.

THREE KILLED AS GUNMEN ATTACK MOSQUE AT GOV. KWANKWASO'S FAMILY HOUSE
Gunmen, Tuesday, opened fire at worshippers inside a mosque located at the family home of the Kano State Governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, killing three persons and injuring three others including children.
The spokesperson of the Kano Command of Nigerian Police Force, Magaji Majiya, who confirmed the incident to PREMIUM TIMES over the telephone, Wednesday, said the attack took place at the mosque in Kwankwaso Town of Madobi Local Government Area.

APC Chieftan Beaten Blue-Black As Thugs Storm Kano Mosque
On Friday, hundreds of suspected thugs invaded a mosque in Kano during the Jumat service and beat an All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Alhaji Abdulmajid Danbuiki Kwamada blue-black.
The thugs beat Kwamada, tearing his clothes off his back. It took the timely intervention of some good Samaritans who took him into the Chief Imam’s residence to save his life.
Speaking after the attack, Kwamada said, "Thank God I was rescued. I suspected it was a former governor of Kano State who sent them after me, because they came inside the mosque in his convoy. I reported the matter to the police at Bompai and I will also take the ex-governor to court over my attack. I believe the attackers wanted to kill me. If you see how they tore my clothes into pieces.
The Kano state Police command is yet to issue a statement on the attack.
