Senegal To Make Drinking Water From Human Poo

Bill Gate has backed a new hi-tech water plant than could bring clean water to Africa - and even allegedly drank it.

The Microsoft founder has backed a Seattle firm's radical machine that uses a combination of steam and filters to convert human waste into water the firm says it is indistinguishable from bottled water.

Called the OmniProcessor, the new kind of low-cost waste treatment plant has been backed by the Gates Foundation, and is about to be tested in Senegal for the first time.

Doctor Removes Patient's Healthy kidney In Error






A 59-year-old federal inmate lost his healthy kidney when a surgeon mistakenly took it out instead of the his left kidney which had tumors

According to the California Medical Board, the incident began when the federal inmate underwent surgery at St. Jude Medical Center in Fullerton, to remove his left kidney.

However, he left the hospital with his sick kidney intact. Dr. Charles Coonan Streit, a urologist who has been licensed for 41 years, was punished for the error.

Female Doctor Offers Patients S*x In Exchange For Prescribing Medications




A Norwegian female doctor is in trouble for demanding sex from her patients in exchange for prescribing medication. The docor came under fire after one of her patients reported her to the Norwegian Board of Health Supervision. According to WWWN

The Board will now decide whether to cancel the doctor's license to practice medicine.

Graupera-Cassimiro's heart stopped beating for 45 minutes. Just as doctors were about to call her time of death, they spotted a blip on the monitor.

"I was dead," Graupera-Cassimiro told ABC News. "My husband tells me, 'You were gray. You were cold as ice, and you were dead. You had no color in your lips.'"

Graupera-Cassimiro, 40, had gone to the hospital for a cesarean section on Sept. 23. The surgery was uneventful and the baby was healthy, but Graupera-Cassimiro started to experience shortness of breath, said Boca Raton Regional Hospital spokesman Thomas Chakurda told ABC News.

The last thing she remembers was being wheeled into the recovery room after the c-section and asking someone for a tissue because her nose felt stuffy. She said it felt like she'd fallen asleep.

A cruel comment from her boyfriend during a romantic getaway made 22 year old Paige Way to drop from a whopping size 28 to a size 12. Paige said her boyfriend told her that belly was too fat for them to have sex. The comment from her boyfriend shamed her into shedding a lot of weight.

Mother Wins Right To End Disabled Daughter's Life (PICTURED)

A British mother, Charlotte Fitzmaurice, has won the right to end the  life of her 12 year old daughter, this is the first time a court will rule that a child, breathing on its own be allowed to die.

Nancy Fitzmaurice was born blind and suffering from hydrocphalus, meningitis and septicaemia, which left her unable to talk, walk, eat or drink.

Her quality of life was so poor she depended on round the clock hospital care and was fed, watered and medicated through a tube at London's Great Ormond Street Hospital.

Strange Particles Found In Chivita Orange Pineapple Fruit Juice (SEE PHOTOS)




 
There is need to be careful when taking fruit juices (whatever the make – foreign or local).
A friend of my just got this from his wife.
Attached are pictures of the content of Chivita orange pineapple fruit juice this was opened some minutes ago and this is rather worrisome.
Ensure that you empty the content of fruit juices in a clear glass/cup before consuming.
 I do know that some of us like drinking straight from the package/can/bottle.

GRAPHIC PHOTO: Another Deadly Virus Surfaces - Marburg Haemorrhagic Fever (MHF)







With West Africa, and indeed the rest of the world, still reeling from the deaths brought about by the Ebola virus, the recent death of a Ugandan hospital technician of another deadly viral disease, Marburg Haemorrhagic Fever (MHF), has brought fresh fears, Tribune Newspaper reports.

Uganda’s Ministry of Health disclosed that a total of 99 people who had been in contact with the victim had been moved to quarantine. These contacts are being monitored for signs and symptoms of the disease after tests confirmed that the 30-year-old man who worked as a radiographer in a Kampala hospital died of the disease. The man was said to have had a headache, abdominal pains, diarrhoea and vomited blood before he died.

Ari Wibowo sheds his skin like a snake every 41 days and must constantly smear his body with moisturiser to stop it hardening and seizing up.

The Indonesian teenager has a rare skin condition that doctors in Indonesia have been unable or unwilling to treat and which has left him with an extraordinary appearance.

He suffers from Erythroderma, an inflammatory skin disease also known as 'red man syndrome', that causes the skin over almost the entire body to become scaly and flake off.

Lagos Schools May Not Reopen September 22, says Fashola






Despite the Federal Government’s insistence   on September 22 resumption date for schools, indications em erged yesterday, that Lagos State Government might not respect the date.

Governor Babatunde Fashola gave this hint when he received the Country Representative of the World Health Organization, Mr. Rui Van Gaz who paid him a courtesy visit in his office.

According to him,” The state government is in the process of ascertaining through scientific risk evaluation, whether it will accept the date announced by the Federal Government.”

He added that if evaluation showed that children would be at risk on resumption, Lagos schools would not open on September  22.
At the time of this report, members of the State Executive Council, SEC, and other stakeholders’ especially private schools operators, were still locked in the crucial meeting.
Earlier, Mr. Van Gaz,  said the entire leadership of WHO commended Governor Fashola and his team for their efforts at containing  of Ebola virus.

EBOLA: Wife Of Late Doctor Enemou Discharged






The Federal Government yesterday announced the successful management and discharge of the wife of Late Dr Iyke Enemuo, who secretly treated a primary contact of an American – Liberian, Patrick Sawyer, who imported the dreaded Ebola Virus Disease, EVD, into the country, even as it confirmed that a student of Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU, suspected to have had contact with the late doctor in Port Harcourt has been quarantined.

In a statement issued yesterday, the Minister of Health, Prof. Onyebuchi Chukwu said the latest discharge has brought the total number of EVD survivors in Nigeria to 12.

Chukwu further explained that at the moment, there is no single case of confirmed EVD in Nigeria.

He, however, disclosed that a suspected case of EVD from an undergraduate of Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-Ife, who had contact with the late Port Harcourt doctor at a naming ceremony in Port Harcourt has been quarantined and was being investigated.


Federal Government Insists On September 22 Resumption Date For Schools





Despite entreaties by doctors and Parent Teachers Association the Federal government has insited on keeping the September 22nd resumption date for schools all over the nation.

The Federal  Government said yesterday, that the September 22 resumption date for primary and secondary schools in the country would not be extended because there are no strong reasons for such an extension.

Minister of Health, Professor Onyebuchi Chukwu, who stated this while briefing State House correspondents after the weekly Federal Executive Council meeting insisted that those who have reasons to believe that the schools should not re-open on that date should forward same to the Federal Government.

The Nigerian Medical Association, as well as other professional bodies have called for the extension of the resumption date for primary and secondary schools until the country is free of the the Ebola Virus Disease, EVD.

While West Africa battles Ebola and Dengue fever is raging Japan, at least 10 States of The United States of America is currently fighting a respiratory illness making chidren sick. ABC news reports


A respiratory illness sweeping through parts of the U.S. has landed in Colorado, sickening hundreds of children, according to local doctors.

The disease hasn't been officially identified but officials suspect a rare respiratory virus called human enterovirus 68. According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the virus is related to the rhinovirus, which causes the common cold.

EBOLA: Sister Of Port Harcourt Doctor Tests Positive To Ebola - Minister






The sister of the Port Harcourt Doctor, Dr. Enemou. has tested positive to the Ebola Virus. This was disclosed in a statement by his special assistant on media and communication, Dan Nwomeh, on the update of the status of EVD in Nigeria. the Minister of Heath.

The minister of health, Prof Onyebuchi Chukwu, has said that the number of Ebola Virus Disease in the country has risen to 18, the latest casualty being the sister of the late Port Harcourt doctor.

According to the minister, the total number of cases successfully managed and discharged is now eight while deaths from the fever is now seven.

Doctors say most necks have 7 vertebrae but 15 year old Chinese boy Fu Wengui has 10.
 As a young boy he was diagnosed with Congenital Scoliosis and an abnormal chest frame which made his neck grow extra three inches. This causes him a lot of pain and makes it hard for Fu to walk. Congenital scoliosis is caused by the bones in the spine developing abnormally in the womb.

Fu Wengui was nicknamed “giraffe” when he was little. His mother abandoned him and his father when he was five.

EBOLA: "FG Tells Male Survivors To Avoid Sex For 7 weeks"





Men who were treated and discharged of Ebola Virus have been advised not to have sex for atleast 7 weeks.
Dr Bridget Okoeguale, Director, Department of Public Health, gave the advice during an interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).She said

    “There are many literatures that say that after men are infected, when the virus is not found in the blood, it tends to stay in the semen for about seven weeks to three months.

Nigeria Successfully Contains Ebola, Has Only One Case Left - Health Minister

  



Minister of Health Prof. Onyebuchi Chukwu said today that Nigeria has been able to reduce the number of Ebola cases to just one.

At a press briefing held today August 26th in Abuja, Prof. Onyebuchi said only one patient out of the 13 confirmed cases in Nigeria is still at the Isolation center. He said five of those infected died while seven have successfully recovered and have been discharged. He also said two of the nurses who attended to Patrick Sawyer at the First Consultant hospital were discharged yesterday.

US Government Donates Ebola Screening Equipment To Lagos Airport




This weekend, The Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos,  got additional Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) screening equipment from the United States Government to boost screening capacity at the airport. The equipment is worth 5,000 US Dollars, Vanguard reports.

Making the donation at the Conference Room of the airport, the US Consul-General in Nigeria, Jeffrey Hawkins expressed satisfaction with the timely response of the Nigerian Government to the contagious disease since its importation into the country by Patrick Sawyer, a Liberian a month ago.

The unnamed patient, who was working as a healthcare specialist in Sierra Leone, will stay in a high-level isolation unit (HLIU) at a hospital in north London.

His condition has been described as ‘not currently seriously unwell’ by a government spokesman.

More than 1,400 people in West Africa have died from the epidemic and there is no known cure for the life-threatening virus. In total, an estimated 2,600 people have been infected in the region.

Two US nationals who were given an experimental drug known as ZMapp responded well to the treatment, and were discharged from hospital last week.

President Jonathan Needs Rest, He's Taking The Needed Rest In Germany ––Nigerian Ambassador






 Nigeria’s ambassador to Germany, Abdu Usman Abubakar, has claimed that Jonathan, who was abruptly flown to Germany from Abuja on Thursday, is taking a deserved rest in Germany.

It was reported that President Jonathan was flown to see doctors in Wiesbaden, Germany a few hours after the Nigerian president rounded off the National Confab in Abuja.

    President Jonathan’s sudden departure from Nigeria’s capital city and the cancellation of the scheduled dinner with members of the just concluded National Confab triggered panic and alarm amongst presidential aides and the Nigerian political class.
