Man Sentenced For Stealing Pot Of Soup In Lagos





A 28- year-old man, Abiodun Ojedokun, has been sentenced to six days of community service for stealing a large pot of soup.

The convict, was arraigned on a three-count charge of conspiracy, burglary and stealing, before a Magistrates court, sitting in Lagos, on Monday, 27 October.

According to the police prosecutor, ASP Akinlabi Adegoke, the suspect committed the offences on 20 September at 2:00 a.m. at the Onipanu Model Market in Somolu, Lagos State.

Woman Exonerated, Freed After 17 Years In Prison

59 year old Susan Marie Mellen, was convicted of murder and sentenced to life without parole, 17 years later she is released from prison, the judge said she was not properly represented and that the witness who testified against her was a habitual liar.

Susan spent 17 years in prison for the death of a homeless man. She hugged her grandchild for the first time and did a dance of happiness on Friday after she was judged innocent of murder and freed.

"I always knew that one day God would bring the truth to the light," Susan Marie Mellen, 59, told reporters after she was released from a Torrance courthouse shortly before 6 p.m.

AIG Joseph Mbu Drops Charges Against AIT Journalist


 




 A Magistrate Court sitting in Abuja has discharged the Africa independent Television (AIT) journalist, Mr. Amaechi Anakwe, who was arrested and detained for over eight hours on Thursday on the order of AIG in charge of Zone 7, Joseph Mbu, over an allegation of defamation of character.

When the matter was called on Friday, the defence counsel, John Kalu, urged the court to oblige him a copy of the first information to enable him know the offence Amaechi was being charged for.

Prosecution counsel, Chijoke Okezie, in an oral application told the court that the plaintiff had withdrawn the case and that the accused person was brought to his office for further clarification.

Boko Haram Terrorists Tried In Secret: Jailed 75 Years





A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos on Tuesday convicted three persons for participating in acts of terrorism and being members of   the outlawed Boko Haram sect.

The convicts – Ali Mohammed, Adamu Karumi and Ibrahim Usman – will collectively spend 75 years in jail.

The trio were among the 17 suspected insurgents arraigned before Justice Buba on   eight counts of conspiracy to commit terrorism, illegal possession of firearms and being members of the violent sect.

Arraigned along with them but discharged   before the conclusion of the   trial were   Bala Haruna, Idris Ali, Mohammed Murtala, Kadiri Mohammed, Mustapha Daura, Abba Duguri and Sanni Adamu.

Woman Charged To Court In Lagos For jilting lover









43-year-old events planner Omolola Shittu (pictured right), has been dragged before a Magistrate court in Lagos state for allegedly jilting and stealing from her 55 year old ex-lover, Prince Hilary Unachukwu.

According to Vabguard, Omolola, who was charged alongside one Raphael Oge, 51, on a three-count charge bothering on stealing and threat to life of her ex-lover, pleaded not guilty in court and was remanded in prison custody till she meets her bail conditions. Continue...


According to the charge, Omolola and her accomplice conspired to steal a Honda Accord End of Discussion saloon car valued at N1.6 million.

57-Year-Old Man remanded for stealing mosquito net







Lawrence Isidor, a 57-year-old man has been remanded for two weeks for stealing a mosquito net in Happy Land Estate, Ajah, Lagos.

The defendant allegedly slapped the complainant, Gracious Odo, after she accused him of stealing the net.

The Police arraigned him on 11 August at Tinubu Magistrate court, on a two-count charge of stealing and assault, to which he pleaded not guilty.

The matter was called for bail hearing on Wednesday, 27 August, where the prosecutor explained to the magistrate, T.A. Owolabi that the complainant was ill and therefore could not appear in court.
Owolabi however, noted that the absence was deliberate, in order to make the defendant sweat.

Married Man Jailed 10 Years For Bathing Lover With Acid (Warning: Graphic Photo)







A man, Mr. Difference Ogba has just been jailed for bathing his onetime lover, Ms. Paulina Imuere with acid on the 28th of August 2010.

Ms. Paulina Imuere met her lover some months after separating from her husband over irreconcilable differences. According to her, she relocated to Delta State when her husband took custody of their three children and met Ogba few months later.

Her church members later informed her that Ogba was married with  four kids, and after investigating, she found out it was true and told him they can't continue with the relationship, but Ogba refused. He was fond of always coming to her compound to make noise and cause quarrel with her, so she had to relocate.

Lagos Prophet Allegedly Schedules Prayer Session At Hotel & Rapes Woman

A 23-year-old Celestial Church prophet, Adewale Adeleke, on Tuesday in Lagos, appeared before a Yaba Magistrates’ Court for alleged fraud and rape.

Mr. Adeleke, who resides at No. 2 Ajibola Street, Agbado Ijaiye, Lagos was arraigned on a four-count charge of stealing, obtaining by false pretext, impersonation and rape.

Prosecutor Chris Takim told the court that the accused committed the offences on July 26 at 6 p.m. at the premises of Original Inn Hotel, Ebute Meta.

Mr. Takim said the accused approached his victim claiming to be spiritually informed about her problems and had solutions to them through a scheduled prayer session.

His wife had stomach problem and he asked me to lead him to somewhere to collect a root(herbal medicine) for his wife.

”We went there about 5pm. After escorting him to the place where he collected the medicine, I returned to my house.

”The next day, I went to do my business. I did not know that the same man had engaged police to look for me and the other man that gave him the root, a man I didn’t even know. When I heard that police came to look for me, I inquired about the station they came from and went there myself. ”I reported myself and asked why they came to look for me.

Court Fixes Date For Judgement On Ban Of Hijab In Lagos Schools





Months after the use of Hijab by female students was banned in all public primary and secondary schools in Lagos State, a Lagos High Court in Ikeja has fixed September 26 to deliver judgment in a suit filed by the Muslim Student Association of Nigeria against the Lagos State Government.

Counsel to the students, Mr Gani Adetola-Kaseem in his arguments in court yesterday Friday July 4th maintained that the essence of wearing Hijab by Muslim females is to prevent them from tempting people of the opposite sex or being tempted by them and also to protect their chastity.

I'm Ready To Expose All Boko Haram Sponsors ––Kabiru Sokoto






 Nobody loves to suffer alone and especially when you are not the only one guilty of the offence you are being punished for. That is the dilemma of one of Boko Haram's kingpin, Kabiru Sokoto, who is in prison.

According to reports, Kabiru Sokoto has said he is ready to name the sponsors of the extremist terrorist group, Boko Haram. A top security officers at Kuje Prisons, Abuja, where he is serving a life sentence, revealed to Nigerian Pilot.

    The prison official said, “Kabiru Sokoto has been saying aloud and telling anyone who cares to listen in prison that he is ready to name the sponsors of Boko Haram. He also wants the government [of President Jonathan] to consider his plea for pardon.”

‘She Compressed My Testicles’: Pastor Accuses Wife Of Abuse

A pastor in Oyo has pleaded with a court to end the relationship between him and his wife after he accused her of abuse.
Matthew Olumide told a Mapo Customary Court sitting in Ibadan, the state capital that his wife, Oluyemisi had attempted to destroy his male organ.
He said:

    “Oluyemisi exposed me to public ridicule when she tore my clothes, including my underwear, and compressed my testicles. I spent several weeks in the hospital and when I returned, she warned me not to receive visitors if I needed my life. She falsely accused me of having extra marital affair with my church secretary”

HUMAN SKULL FOUND IN A CHURCH CIELLING IN LAGOS



Lagos State Directorate of Public Prosecutions said 49-year-old Samson Adeneye and a woman, Oyerinde Olawunmi, 48, have a case to answer in a matter in which a human skull was found in the ceiling of an orthodox church in Lagos.

Two policemen attached to Special Anti-robbery Squad – ASP Franklin Alade and Cpl Deleojo Odunayo – were also implicated in the matter, for abuse of office.
A human skull was found in the ceiling of the St. Peter Cherubim and Seraphim church on Moses Adebisi Street, in the Ketu area of Lagos.

    Prior to the incident, Adeneye and Olawunmi, who were former members of the church, were said to have sent threat text messages to some of the church’s ministers.

Death Row Inmate, Rev King Is In Prison But See What's Happening In His Church





Seven years after the General Overseer of the Christian Praying Assembly, Lagos, Rev Chukwuemeka Ezeugo, aka Reverend King, was convicted for murder and attempted murder, Folashade Adebayo attended a service in the church to see how things are going.

Last Sunday was another anniversary celebration of the Christian Praying Assembly, Isolo, Lagos. But as at 9am when Punch correspondent got there, the imposing three black gates of the church were still shut. If not for a number of cars parked opposite the church and a middle-aged man who stood by one of the imposing gates, praying earnestly, one would have concluded that the church, founded by the convicted Chukwuemeka Ezeugo, also known as Rev. King, was on a recess.



Customs Officer Pours Acid On Woman, Claims He is Above The Law (GRAPHIC IMAGE)





Man is indeed wicked, how can someone who claims he is human do this to another human being? Is there any justification for this kind of act? I hope the law takes its full course for this crime.
According to reports, a customs officer in Lagos, identified simply as Mr. Nwaeze, has poured acid on an innocent woman and boasted that he would get away with the crime because he is “above arrest”.
The officer, who is in charge of the Customs unit at Mosafejo Aradagun in the Badagry area of the state, is said to have poured the dangerous chemical on one Tope Fadipe, a salesgirl at a store owned by the suspect’s family.

PASTOR USED WHITE BEDSPREAD AND RED CURTAIN TO RAPE MY DAUGHTER AND OTHERS - MOTHER NARRATES




52 -year-old Emmanuel mathew,  General Overseer of The Choice Bible Church, was brought before a High Court sitting in Abuja on a 6 count charge, of rape.
The mother of one of the girls allegedly raped by Emmanuel Matthew, told the FCT High Court on Friday that the accused used a white bedspread and red curtain to rape her daughter.
Mathew, 52, who is the General Overseer of The Choice Bible Church, Mpape, Abuja, and proprietor of the primary school where his alleged victims attended, was arraigned on a six-count charge.
At the continuation of trial, Mrs Jacintha Ejiofor told the court that her daughter was molested by the pastor in his bedroom on March 12, 2012.

MAN CHARGED TO COURT FOR STEALING N1MILLION AT WEDDING




 The police in Abuja on Wednesday arraigned an applicant, Kunle Opadeyi, at an Abuja Chief Magistrates’ Court in Karu, for allegedly stealing N1m at a wedding reception.

The accused person was arraigned on two counts of criminal conspiracy and theft.
The News Agency of Nigeria  reports that the prosecutor, ASP Adams Peter, told the court that the accused had sneaked into the wedding dinner at the International Conference Centre, Abuja, pretending to be a guest.

Peter alleged that while the event was going on, the accused stole the sum from the money donated by invited guests to the couple.

18-Year-Old Boy Defiles, Kills And Hangs Landlord's 4-Year-Old Daughter In Imo (PHOTOS)






Franklin Njoku, pictured above, a Senior School Certificate Examination candidate who rented a room in a house belonging to one Mr Eze, is currently in police custody after he lured his landlord's four-year-old daughter into the bush, defiled the little girl,  murdered her then hanged her on a dwarf palm tree near their house.

Nigerian Tribune reports that Franklin Njoku, aged 18 years from Ohekelem in Ngorokpala Local Government Area of the state was in Uvuru community to sit for the ongoing West Africa Examination Council (WAEC) at Aboh Mbaise Secondary School, Uvuru.

TWO WOMEN IN ABUJA JAILED FOR FIGHTING OVER A MAN




A Senior Magistrates' court in Wuse Zone 2, Abuja, has sentenced two women, Franca James and Comfort John, to two weeks in prison  for fighting over a man.

James, 33, of Xtracare, Mpape, and John,35, of Karimo, both in Abuja, were charged with disturbing public peace.
The Magistrate, Celestine Odo, sentenced the women after they pleaded guilty to fighting over a man.
The magistrate, however, gave them an option of fine of N2,000 each, and advised them to desist from fighting.
He said that the court was lenient on them because they were first time offenders and had shown remorse over their act.
