Val Kilmer

This troubled actor reportedly walked off the set of his first job. It was a commercial for hamburgers when he was only 12 years old. Kilmer famously came to blows with director Joel Schumacher when he told Val his poor treatment of the crew was unacceptable.

Mike Myers

Myers has built a reputation throughout the years for being a high maintenance control-freak.
His Wayne’s World director claimed she assigned her daughter as his personal assistant to deal with his endless demands.
Who knew that a guy with such a friendly face and a great sense of humor can be like this? I guess that with so much positive things surrounding this actor, there have to be some negative ones…

Katherine Heigl

Publicly slamming people she has worked with, rude behavior and outrageous demands led to this actresses hasty decline from one of the highest paid actresses in Hollywood to a non-speaking role in a commercial for cold medicine.
Known for rants, Katherine had something to say about almost everyone she has worked with. Knocked up was sexist, for example, according to Katherine.
The worst of it got the writers of ”Grey’s Anatomy” after her statement that she will not accept an Emmy nomination because of “bad writing”.

In an interview with Saturday Tribune, Mercy Johnson Okojie opens up about life before the fame, money and marriage. She talks about how she once lived in an uncompleted building and how she was inspired to start acting after watching one of Genevieve Nnaji's movies. Excerpt below... Sometimes when I cry in movies, it isn't the script that makes me cry. When I recall my humble beginning, I give thanks to God.

When I remember how we moved into an uncompleted building and had to take cover whenever it rained because of the condition of the house; how my brother did a menial job as a bricklayer to earn a living and those days when we rolled over a stick to cover the windows up till the point when I started acting and raised money to cover the roof… I recall those days we were living with lizards because the floor and the walls of the house were not plastered, or when I had scars as a result of my several falls.”

Hepatitis B: The Silent Epidemic By Bukola Akanni

By some accounts, Hepatitis B is a new silent epidemic ravaging the health of Nigerians but medical experts insist that the disease has, nonetheless, attracted very little attention from the government and people of Nigeria.
Recent statistics indicate that not less than 23 million Nigerians are estimated to be infected with the Hepatitis B virus (HBV), making Nigeria one of the countries with the highest incidence of HBV infection in the world.
The online Medical News Today says the word hepatitis comes from the ancient Greek word hepar (root word hepat) meaning ``liver’’, and in Latin – an ancient Italic language – it means inflammation.
In essence, hepatitis means injury to the liver with inflammation of the liver cells.
Viral hepatitis may, however, occur in acute or chronic forms.  The most common causes of viral hepatitis are the five unrelated hepatotropic viruses: Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, Hepatitis D, and Hepatitis E.
Nevertheless, Hepatitis B and C are the most chronic and the leading cause of death among the five viruses.
According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), HBV is 50 to 100 times more infectious than Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) and about 600,000 people worldwide die every year due to the consequences of hepatitis B.
The WHO says that Hepatitis B is a potentially life-threatening liver infection caused by HBV.
Hepatitis B is a major global health problem and concerned experts bemoan the fact that although HBV infection causes chronic liver disease, it has received little or no attention in Nigeria, thereby making it a major public health hazard in the country.

News Analysis: The Gains Of U17 Youth Games By Emmanuel Afonne

After Nigeria’s abysmal performance at the 2012 London Olympics in which the country failed to win a single medal, stakeholders have been calling for an aggressive grassroots sports talent hunt.
They say that the talent hunt will enable the country to discover potential athletes and nurture them.
It is, perhaps, clear to sports administrators that Nigeria’s failure to win any medal at the London Olympics signifies some deficiencies in the sports sector.
As part of efforts to redress the trend, the U-17 National Youth Games (NYG) was introduced, in line with the recommendations of National Sports Summit which was convened by President Goodluck Jonathan after the dismal Olympics outing.
The maiden edition of the games was held in Abuja between Dec. 6 and Dec. 15, 2013.
Malam Bolaji Abdullahi, Minister of Sports, who warned states against fielding over-aged athletes, noted that unlike the National Sports Festival (NSF), the NYG was not for established athletes.
In all, 2,917 athletes from 31 states and the FCT participated in the 11-day tournament which featured 14 sports.
The sports are football, badminton, basketball, boxing, handball, power-lifting, squash, table tennis, taekwondo, tennis, track and field, volleyball, weightlifting and wrestling.
