The Federal Government and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) have opened discussion with the sect for the release of the girls, according to agency reports yesterday.

The girls, contrary to fears in many quarters, are also said not to have been raped or used as sex slaves.

Federal Government Defends $9.3m Cash Seized In South Africa

The Federal Government yesterday opened diplomatic discussions with South African authorities on the seizure of $9.3m illegally imported by two Nigerians and an Israeli citizen to purchase arms on behalf of Nigerian security services. The Nigerian government insisted that the deal was legal.

This is just as  National President of Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, whose private jet, a Bombadier Challenger 600 marked N808HG, was used to convey the money has denied any involvement in the alleged deal.

It was gathered that the Federal Government has released data and documents on the transaction process to South Africa, thereby confirming that the entire operation involving the aircraft was ‘genuine’.

FG Postpones Resumption Of Primary And Secondary Schools To October 15th

To check the spread of the dreaded Ebola Viral Disease. The Federal Government has postponed the resumption of primary and secondary schools across the country to October 15th.

Primary and Secondary schools were supposed to resume on September 22nd but, The FG had  about 2 weeks ago postponed it indefinitely to prevent an outbreak of the Ebola Viral Disease. They announced today that schools can now resume on October 15th.

The Federal Government also stopped all summer schools.


Good!! Let us still educate them on precautionary methods, also schools should have running water for washing hands  please, TRANSFORMATION is not only electricity we need water too!!

Sanusi Lamido Drops Suit Against The Federal Government

Former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi has reportedly dropped the suit filed against President Goodluck Jonathan, the Inspector General of Police and all the defendants which challenged his suspension from office as CBN Governor on February 20, 2014.
Sanusi, who is presently the Emir of Kano, issued the Notice of Discontinuance today, July 1, 2014.

BOKO HARAM: NIGERIA ARMY GETS A NOD FROM FGN TO BEGIN MASS RECRUITMENT IN MAY

 The Federal Government has given  the armed forces and other security agencies the nod  to embark on mass recruitment.
The PUNCH gathered in Abuja on Sunday that the directive was to give fillip to the war against terrorism in the country.
It was also learnt that those who attended the expanded National Security Council meeting in Abuja on Thursday emphasised the need for the recruitment.
 A highly placed military source said that   President  Goodluck Jonathan  issued the  directive for more recruitment into the army in March after the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen Kenneth Minimah,  had briefed him about the operations of the army.
 The source, who did not want to be named because he was not authorised to speak on the  matter,  said   the army did not  begin the recruitment immediately because of the need to expand training facilities in parts of the country.

Sanusi can’t escape arrest – FG tells Court

The case between the Federal Government and the suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Sanusi Lamido, is heating up as the former has refused to shift its stance.
The F.G, in response to a suit filed by Sanusi, has said that the CBN governor can not succeed in his attempt to restrain the police and  the Department of State Security Service from arresting him.
The government, which is involved in the suit alongside the Inspector General of Police and the Department of State Security, also added that the reliefs Sanusi sought were constitutionally impossible to grant.
The Daily Independent reports:

Sanusi had filed the suit seeking an order restraining the police and officers of the Department of State Security (DSS) from arresting, detaining or otherwise harassing him.

FG may remove petrol, kerosene subsidies

The Federal Government may have concluded plans to stop subsidising the consumption of petroleum products in the country, especially petrol and kerosene following increasingly dwindling revenue.

The Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke, gave the clearest hint yet of the planned removal of subsidies on both products by the Federal Government on Tuesday at the ongoing Nigerian Oil and Gas Conference in Abuja.

FGN Set To Go After Boko Haram Sponsors

The Federal Government is set to go after Boko Haram sponsors and sympathizers.
This decision was reached after innocent school children at the Federal Government College (FGC), Buni Yadi, in Yobe State were brutally murdered by the insurgents.
According to a military source, one of the advantages the Boko Haram members have is that most northern oil dealers smuggle their petroleum allocation across the Nigerian boarders in Sokoto, Katsina, Kano, Yobe and Borno and they are the ones helping to boost the mobility and income of the insurgents.

Nigerian Government Grants Islamist Terror Preacher Visa

The Federal Government granted visa to renowned extremist and Islamic terror preacher, Dr Abu Ameenah Bilal Philips, who has been banned from a number of countries because of his messages. The Minister of Interior, Abba Moro said Philips was granted visa because he 'met the requirements

WHY WE HONUORED ABACHA -- NIGERIAN GOVERNMENT

The Nigerian government on Friday said although late General Sani Abacha’s regime was one of the most controversial in Nigeria’s history, the military dictator deserved to be honoured.


The government also explained why Mr. Abacha, Nigeria’s military dictator from 1993 to 1998, was among those who received the centenary award for 100 Nigerians.

The government stated this position in the awardees’ brochure where a brief citation was written for each recipient and reasons given why he or she deserved the award.

The citation and reasons were read during the Centenary honours Award night held at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Nigerian Government Makes U-Turn Says, East- West Road Cannot Be Completed In 2014

The Supervising Minister of the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs, Darius Ishaku, has said that the East-West Road could not be completed by December 2014 as earlier promised.
He said on Friday in Abuja during the defence of the ministry’s 2014 budget estimates before the Senate Committee on Niger Delta.
The immediate past Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godsday Orubebe, had given assurances that the road would be completed and inaugurated by the end of 2014.
Mr. Ishaku told the committee that funds allocated to the ministry in the 2014 budget proposal by the Budget Office would not be enough to complete the project.

BOKO HARAM: FEDERAL GOVERNMENT DEPLOYS MORE TROOPS TO TROUBLED AREAS

In a bid to stem the tide of attacks being carried out by the outlawed Boko Haram sect, the federal government has sent more troops to the terror-stricken villages in the northern part of Nigeria.

It was gathered that the insurgents killed over 65 people in attacks on seven villages in Adamawa State, while about 93 others were killed when the terrorists struck at a village in Borno State at the weekend.
The attacks, which happened on Saturday night, have forced about 100,000 residents of the villages to flee over fears that the insurgents could come again to kill more people.

FG Agrees To Appoint Surgeon-General Of Federation

Abuja, President Goodluck Jonathan has agreed to appoint a Surgeon-General of the Federation as demanded by the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA), a competent source in the Presidency, has said.
The source, who pleaded anonymity, made the disclosure to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Abuja.
The source told NAN that Jonathan gave the concession after a meeting he summoned to avert the NMA Jan. 6 planned industrial action.

FG Denies Plans To Increase Pump Price Of Petrol

The Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources said on Thursday the government does not plan to increase the pump price of petrol, which is currently N97 per liter.
In a press statement signed by the Permanent Secretary, Danladi Kifasi, the Ministry described such fears were unfounded.

2014: FG To Maintain Presidential Jets With N1.52Bn- PUNCH

The Federal Government has budgeted N1.52b for the maintenance of the 10 aircraft currently in the Presidential Air Fleet in 2014.

The maintenance cost is slightly higher than the N1.5bn proposed as the initial deposit for the purchase of additional aircraft that will bring the number of aircraft in the fleet to 11.

This is apart from the N747m earmarked for the purchase of aviation fuel for the aircraft already in the fleet.

These figures are contained in the details of the 2014 Appropriation Bill presented to the National Assembly by President Goodluck Jonathan through the Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, penultimate week.
