First-Class University Graduate Jailed For N1.92m Internet Fraud

A graduate of Lead City University, Ibadan, who passed out with 1st-class honors has been sentenced to one-year imprisonment after pleading guilty to a two-count charge of conspiracy and obtaining money under false pretences.

Olakunle Akanni was sentenced on Nov. 4th at the Ikeja High Court in Lagos for defrauding a 77 year-old American woman, Diana Huizenga, of over 12,000 dollars through an internet love scam.

One of his accomplices, Adesina Akinsola, 30, was also given a similar sentence by the judge but adjourned the sentencing of their co-accused, 30-year-old Dele Oshuntogun, till Nov. 17.'

 An angry father, Kevin Jones, scolded his 10-year-old daughter on Facebook this morning for lying about her age, dating boys, and having social media accounts.

In addition to embarrassing her on social media, he is making his daughter wear a t-shirt with the inscription, “I am 10 years old” on the front, and “5th Grader” inscribed on the back.

Woman Buried Alive By Man She Met Online After He Mistook Her For Dead

In a very chilling case, A man in Morocco has been arrested after burying alive a new girlfriend he met online. After hitting it off on the web,25-year-old French woman Mina El Houari travelled to Morroco to see the unnamed man ,but when she got to his home in the city of Fez she fell seriously ill.
Not knowing she was a diabetic, the man said who said he 'watched her fall unconscious' and 'thinking she was dead' buried her.
 According to police reports, she was still conscious but suffocated and died once covered in mounds of earth. Mina had been staying in a five star hotel in Fez, and when she failed to contact staff, or relatives back home, the alarm was raised.

She  was found dead under suspicious circumstances in a Johannesburg guest house within days of meeting the man who called himself Jesse Orowo Omokoh.

Jesse is believed to have scammed the woman in excess of $90k. After the woman's death, Jesse, 28, disappeared. Well, after a year on the run, he has been arrested in Lagos.

Premiumtimes reports that the Police Special Fraud Unit, SFU, has arrested a 29-year-old man for allegedly operating an internet fraud syndicate that specializes in defrauding unsuspecting wealthy foreign women who are in dire need of husbands.

Henry Ogu, and his accomplice, Yunusa Okonkwo, 42, were arrested after defrauding a New Jersey lady of US$350,000 (about N56 million) via an internet dating site.

In a statement on Wednesday, the SFU said that it received an e-mailed petition from a U.S. citizen, whom it did not name, sometime in April 2013. The petitioner alleged that she met Mr. Ogu on a dating site.

A woman was arrested and held without bail after she lured a young boy to have s*x with her.
Anna Areola-Hernandez, 23, of Arizona, was arrested after she set up social media accounts and pretended to be only 15 years old.

Police found that Areola-Hernandez had contact with at least 10 underage boys online, while claiming to be a 15-year-old girl.
Areola-Hernandez admitted to police that she likes younger boys rather than men her own age.

One Miss Elizabeth John Adie, has given oral evidence about how she was gang-raped by a group of men she met through a social networking site, 2GO.
The case was mentioned at the Upper Area Court, Mararaba Gurku, Nasarawa State, yesterday.
One of the accused, 22-year-old Agbo Emmanuel, a school certificate holder has been in police detention since the incident occurred but was brought to court on February 11, charged with criminal conspiracy, intimidation, extortion, causing hurt and rape, all contrary to sections 97, 397, 292, 244, and 283 of the Penal Code Laws of Nigeria.
