'We Know Where The Chibok Girls Are But We Are Just Being Careful' - DG SSS Says





 Fielding questions from newsmen after today's National Security Council meeting held at the Presidential Villa, the Director General of the Department of State Security, DSS, Mr Ita Ekpeyong said that security forces know where precisely the kidnapped Chibok girls are but are being very careful in their rescue efforts so as not to endanger their lives.

    "The issue of the Chibok girls, government is making efforts. We know where they are but we don't want to endanger their lives, that is the truth. We want to take it gradually and release them at the appropriate time. We know where they are" he said

Oby Ezekwesili Arrested, Released

A former Minister of Education, Obiageli Ezekwesili, was Monday morning arrested by security agents at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport,  Abuja, as she tried to travel to London for a scheduled engagement.

The operatives confiscated her travelling documents as well.

She was however released after the government came under intense pressure as news of her arrest flooded the social media and travelled around the country, with many Nigerians lambasting the administration for increasingly clamping down on critics and members of the opposition.

Abuja Hotels To Submit Daily List Of Guests To SSS And Police




 MINISTER of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Senator Bala Mohammed, on Monday, directed all hotels in Abuja to, henceforth, forward the list of their guests to the FCT Directorate of State Security Services (SSS) and the FCT police command on a daily basis.

The hotels were equally required to install security cameras within their vicinity and ensure thorough check of all vehicles entering their premises and within their surroundings.

BOKO HARAM: INMATE OVERPOWERED SSS OPERATIVE, UPROOTED TOILET SEAT


 




The incident which occurred at the headquarters of the State Security Service has left many Nigerians in shock as to how the bedrock of national security was left vulnerable to terrorists.

The shootout between security operatives and Boko Haram members which occurred yesterday morning is said to have claimed the lives of 21 militants while 2 SSS officers sustained injuries.

While there is no concrete account of how the attack began, most sources state that it was an attempted jailbreak.

SSS Arrests Graduate, Boko Haram Members For Killing Islamic Cleric





The State Security Service has arrested a graduate of English Literature from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Yasir Salihu, and six other Boko Haram members who allegedly assassinated a popular Islamic cleric, Sheik Adam Albani, his wife and son on February 1, 2014 at Gwagwaje area of Zaria, Kaduna State.

The cleric was murdered while returning from a religious event at Markaz Centre, Tudun Wada, Zaria, Kaduna State, on account of his anti-Boko Haram sermons and for allegedly threatening to expose the sect’s members to security agencies.
