Lt. Col., 15 Others Jailed Over Chibok Girls’ Abduction

The Nigerian Army has sentenced three officers and 13 other soldiers to two years’ imprisonment each over the April 14, 2014 abduction of over 200 schoolchildren from their hostel in Chibok, Borno State, by Boko Haram insurgents.

The soldiers, including a Lieutenant Colonel, a Captain and a Second lieutenant, were arraigned before a General Military Court Martial at the Maxwell Khobe Military Cantonment, Rukuba in Jos, Plateau State, in October 2014.

The officers are Col. A. O. Ojo, Capt. O. O. Ogunrinde, and 2nd Lieutenant V.I. Godknows.

On Monday members of the #BringBackOurGirls protested the killings of the 48 students of a secondary school in Potiskum, Yobe State, last week by Boko Haram.

Tears flowed freely as the protesters marched to the Ministry of Education at the Federal Secretariat to express their bitterness and grief over the massacre of the innocent  students.

When will government be able to secure the  lives of innocent Nigerians?

Shekau Denies Ceasefire, Says Chibok Girls Have Converted To Islam, Married Off

On October 17th 2014 the Presidency and the Military announced a ceasefire agreement reached between the Presidency and  Boko Haram militants, an arrangement which also agreed to negotiations for the release of the abducted Chibok girls.

This ceasefire has been violated several times since the agreement was supposedly reached the latest being the take over of Mubi,the 2nd largest city in Adamawa State, by the militants and a triple bomb blast yesterday Friday of a Bus station in Gombe where 8 people died. In the confusion of whether a ceasefire was really reached or not Boko Haram has come out in a fresh video to deny any such reports Vanguard reports

Boko Haram denied that they had agreed to a ceasefire in a new video obtained on Friday by AFP, describing the Nigerian government claims as a lie and apparently ruling out future talks.

Northern Leaders Give Jonathan October Ultimatum To Bring Back Chibok Girls

On Monday, the faction of Northern Elders Forum led by Maitama Sule gave President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan an ultimatum till the end of October 2014 to bring back the over 200 abducted school girls from the Chibok area of Borno.

They also told him to end the Boko Haram insurgency, and failure to do so means he is not fit to seek a re-election in 2015.

President Jonathan today July 22nd met with parents of abducted Chibok girls and rescued girls at the State House in Abuja. Present at the closed door meeting was the Senate President David Mark, Finance Minister Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, the Principal of the school, Mrs Asaba Kwambura as well as some Heads of Nigeria's Security Agencies.

The media was sent out of the room once the meeting kicked off.

11 Parents Of Nigeria’s Abducted Girls Die

LAGOS, Nigeria — About a dozen parents of the more than 200 kidnapped Nigerian schoolgirls will never see their daughters again.

Since the mass abduction of the schoolgirls by Islamic extremists three months ago, at least 11 of their parents have died and their hometown, Chibok, is under siege from the militants, residents report.

Seven fathers of kidnapped girls were among 51 bodies brought to Chibok hospital after an attack on the nearby village of Kautakari this month, said a health worker who insisted on anonymity for fear of reprisals by the extremists.

'We Know Where The Chibok Girls Are But We Are Just Being Careful' - DG SSS Says

 Fielding questions from newsmen after today's National Security Council meeting held at the Presidential Villa, the Director General of the Department of State Security, DSS, Mr Ita Ekpeyong said that security forces know where precisely the kidnapped Chibok girls are but are being very careful in their rescue efforts so as not to endanger their lives.

    "The issue of the Chibok girls, government is making efforts. We know where they are but we don't want to endanger their lives, that is the truth. We want to take it gradually and release them at the appropriate time. We know where they are" he said

Oby Ezekwesili Arrested, Released

A former Minister of Education, Obiageli Ezekwesili, was Monday morning arrested by security agents at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport,  Abuja, as she tried to travel to London for a scheduled engagement.

The operatives confiscated her travelling documents as well.

She was however released after the government came under intense pressure as news of her arrest flooded the social media and travelled around the country, with many Nigerians lambasting the administration for increasingly clamping down on critics and members of the opposition.

President Goodluck Jonathan To Meet Chibok Parents On July 22

Another attempt by President Goodluck Jonathan to meet the parents of school girls abducted in Chibok, Borno State, more than 3 months ago, will be held July 22.
The spokesperson of the Kibaku Chibok Area Development Association, Dauda Iliya, claimed this while speaking yesterday in Abuja, Premium Times reports.

According to the official, the body received an invitation from presidency Wednesday morning, 3 days after his meeting with Pakistani rights activist Malala Yousafzai when he made a vow to have an encounter with the aggrieved relatives. Iliya was quoted saying:
"We just got the letter at around 11 a.m. this morning from the (Presidential) Villa. it came as a unilateral form of communication."

It's just shy of a hundred days since 276 girls in northern Nigeria were abducted by Boko Haram, the Islamic extremist group. And Nigeria has seen more bombings and abductions since the girls vanished.
Just yesterday, Nigerian officials announced that another group of girls and women, who were abducted a few weeks ago, actually managed to escape. But journalist and lawyer Chude Jideonwo says it's difficult to distinguish fact from fiction in Nigeria's many kidnapping cases.

Where Is The Money for Arms Against Boko Haram?

Not long ago USA revealed that in 2012 they made available to the government the sum of $20 million  to help it combat terrorism, this in addition to the staggering figures the finance Minister says was received from the treasury, yet....

The Nigerian military released a statement in which they ‘explained’ why they have not yet – after three months – brought back our precious Chibok abducted girls. In the statement as presented in the media, the military claimed that their problem was ‘bringing back the girls alive.’

Director of Information, Defence Headquarters, Major General Chris Olukolade said,
“To the best of our knowledge, they are still accessible. If we tried to force our way in, they may be killed. If we force our way there, they will kill them. This is what we want to avoid at all cost; rescue operations of that nature should not be done in a hurry. Sambisa (forest) is not impenetrable. But let me say it here: they mined almost everywhere around where they are keeping these girls.”

This is so sad, how many more will have to die before their children are brought back to them.
According to a report by Punch no fewer than 7 of the parents of the abducted Chibok girls have died while waiting for the return of their abducted daughters.

Eight-one days after the abduction of their children, seven parents of the abducted female pupils of the Government Secondary School, Chibok, Borno State, have died of trauma.

'We Did Not Ban Abuja Protests' - Nigerian Police Say

The Nigerian Police Headquarters has issued a statement saying they didn't ban protests in Abuja. According to the statement signed by CSP Frank Mba, what was issued yesterday by the FCT Commissioner of Police, Joseph Mbu was only an advisory notice and not a ban.

EXPOSED: PDP Chairman Adamu Muazu Is A Pathological Liar

Secretary to the Borno State Government, SSG, Ambassador Baba Ahmed Jidda, has described the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Alhaji Adamu Muazu, as a pathological liar, for telling Nigerians that both the minister of State for education and WAEC had written to the governor not to allow exams go on in Chibok, but that the governor insisted.

    "I did not know Muazu a former Governor in the northeast that is suffering this crisis, to be a pathological liar. I don't know if any of you watched the Channels Television today, (Thursday), they showed Muazu telling lies for me to react, it was on air, the world saw him misleading the world. I took the letters he is misquoting with me and the panelists all read it. There was no where any of the letters asked us not to conduct exams in Chibok. This is the letter, all of you should look at it. Muazu didn't read the letter before he went to the media to speak out of outright ignorance and falsehood. This is very unfortunate.
