Military Chiefs Lambast Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala Over Budget





'No budget will be enough to meet military demands, but for now, I think the sector takes almost a trillion of the budget’ –Okonjo-Iweala

‘It's not just about non-release of appropriated funds. Even money approved by President was not released’ –Military source

The Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala and service chiefs are at loggerheads over disbursement of the financial allocations to the military.

Investigations showed that there were instances where “money would be released on paper,” but the military would be told that there was no cash back-up.

Okonjo-Iweala Rejects World Bank's Classification Of Nigeria As Extreme Poor

 



The Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, on Thursday reacted to the pronouncement by the World Bank President, Jim Yong Kim, classifying Nigeria among the world’s "extreme poor countries."

The World Bank President, Jim Yong Kim, who was addressing participants at the Council on Foreign Relations, CFR, meeting in New York, said two-thirds of the world’s extreme poor are concentrated in just five countries, namely India, China, Nigeria, Bangladesh, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

"If you add another five countries — Indonesia, Pakistan, Tanzania, Ethiopia, and Kenya — the total grows to 80 per cent of the extreme poor," Mr. Kim said.

ANOTHER PROPHECY: Primate Ayodele's Prophecies For D'banj, Davido, Okonjo-Iweala





Primate Ayodele, the head of Inri Evangelical Spiritual Church, (pictured right) whose predictions are said to always come to past, recently shared his prophecies for 2014 and mentioned Davido and D'banj.

About Davido, he said the singer needs to be a bit more careful and increase security around himself and his crew as a kidnap attempt is in the offing. Once again, we forbid this.

About D'banj, the prophet said he needs to be very careful or he would be defrauded over a foreign business deal.

MISSING $20BN : I WANT TO KNOW THE WHOLE TRUTH-- OKONJO -IWEALA




Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister for the Economy, has demanded to know the whole truth about the alleged missing $20b which the suspended Central Bank Governor, Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi said is missing from the federation account.

A statement Wednesday from the finance ministry to the BBC, said the minister, “ asked for urgent action with regard to an independent forensic audit of conflicting claims of unaccounted funds made by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mallam Sanusi Lamdio Sanusi.”

Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala Denies Report Of Her Resignation




Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, The coordinating Minister For the Economy, has denied a report that she had tendered a letter of resignation to the president.
This is contained in a statement signed by Mr Paul Nwabuikwu, Special Adviser on Media to the Minister, on Friday in Abuja.
``It has come to our attention that a story is circulating online about the purported resignation of the Coordinating Minister for the Economy and Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.

Okonjo-Iweala: I Need Time To Answer Lawmaker's Questions


Minister of Finance and the Co-ordinating Minister for the Economy, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, yesterday in Abuja said the 50 questions House of Representatives members recently asked her to answer before the 2014 budget could be considered was akin to writing an examination.
The minister who fielded questions from State House correspondents, shortly after she attended a presentation of a report on "14 Years of Strategic Partnership between the DFID, UK and the Debt Management Office - Nigeria" presided over by Vice President Namadi Sambo, said some of the issues raised were weighty, and as such, she needed some time to be able to tackle them.

Okonjo-Iweala Raises the Alarm over Doctored Video


The Coordinating Minister for the Economy and Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, has raised the alarm over an alleged doctored video of her last appearance before the House of Representatives Committee on Finance.
A statement by her media aide, Mr. Paul Nwabuikwu, said the video, which had been uploaded by an online news medium, Premium Times, was substantially different from the one which was independently captured and broadcast by a popular private television, which many Nigerians have seen.
According to the statement, the video uploaded by the online medium was edited to leave out important aspects with the clear intention to make the minister look like the aggressor during the appearance.

House to probe Ngozi Okonji-Iweala over Import Duty Waivers



The House of Representatives has mandated the Cordinating Minister for the Economy and Minister of Finance, Mrs. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, to produce a detailed report on the exact amount of money Nigeria lost to import duty waivers between 2011 and 2013.

She was also directed to provide the full names of the beneficiaries; what the waivers were used to import; and the justification for granting such duty exemptions.
