Shekau Denies Ceasefire, Says Chibok Girls Have Converted To Islam, Married Off

On October 17th 2014 the Presidency and the Military announced a ceasefire agreement reached between the Presidency and  Boko Haram militants, an arrangement which also agreed to negotiations for the release of the abducted Chibok girls.

This ceasefire has been violated several times since the agreement was supposedly reached the latest being the take over of Mubi,the 2nd largest city in Adamawa State, by the militants and a triple bomb blast yesterday Friday of a Bus station in Gombe where 8 people died. In the confusion of whether a ceasefire was really reached or not Boko Haram has come out in a fresh video to deny any such reports Vanguard reports

Boko Haram denied that they had agreed to a ceasefire in a new video obtained on Friday by AFP, describing the Nigerian government claims as a lie and apparently ruling out future talks.

THE PURPORTED SHEKAU VIDEO IN CIRCULATION

The Defence Headquarters is studying the claims made in the video purportedly released by the terrorists showing their leader Abubakar Shekau as dismissing his death. From immediate observation and what some online news outlets claimed to have seen, the video did not indicate when it was shot neither did it show any proof of life or currency such as screen time or date. The video also did not make any reference to anything that has happened since the impostor’s reported death.

It is also noteworthy that the air plane said to be mentioned in the video had been missing before he was killed. It should not surprise anybody if the terrorists decide to manipulate pictures, clone another Shekau or upload a pre-recorded video all in a bid to prove invincible.

The leader of the Boko Haram sect, Abubakar Shekau (or his clone), who is said to have been killed by Nigerian (or Cameroonian) troops last month is alive.

And he wants the world to know.

A new video released through the regular channels has shown his face, and he is vocally debunking the stories of his death, and he has added that he is still in the business of making a Caliphate out of Nigeria.

The AFP says the video is 36-minutes long.

Nigerian Military Killed "Shekau' See Photo Proof

Amid conflicting reports  on the death of Boko Haram leader Shekau the Millitary has come up with more photo evidence to back up their claim that the current leader of the sect was indeed the one killed by the military.

The Director of Defence Information, Maj. Gen. Chris Olukolade, said during a news conference in Abuja on Wednesday, that the corpse of the insurgents’ leader was identified by the people of Kodunga.

He said Shekau's real name is Mohammed Bashir. Olukolade illustrated the Defence authorities claim with pictures of the bullet-ridden corpse of Shekau and a video of the battle in which he was killed.

But a journalist close to Boko Haram, Ahmad Salkida, had it on “authority” that Shekau is alive.

Borno-born journalist said to be a close ally of Boko Haram, Ahmad Salkida, has dismissed the report that the dreaded commander of the Boko Haram sect has been killing by troops in Konduga area.

Salkida, who is on self-exile in the United Arab Emirates over alleged threats to his life, said he has it good on “authority” that Abubakar Shekau was hale and hearty. Salkida claimed that Shekau, who he had discussions with recently during a failed attempt to negotiate an end to the incarceration of the Chibok girls was not the one in a picture circulating online.

    “Mark my words: I have it on authority that Shekau is well and alive. The picture going round is not the person who torments us with his group,” the journalist stated categorically.

Experts commenting on the recent video released by Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau  declaring an Islamic caliphate in Nigeria have expressed their opinion on the the terrorist’s current intentions.

In the fresh Boko Haram video obtained by AFP August 24, the group announced that the captured town of Gwoza was now under an Islamic caliphate, a claim that triggered a lot of talks about the actual meaning of the phrase.

On numerous occasions analysts have spoken about the similarity between the Nigerian terrorist group and Islamic State (IS) operating in Iraq, and now  they suggest that the pronouncement might be connected with Shekau’s desire to get more media attention like IS.

    Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau, in a 16-minute video obtained by AFP  also mocks the social media and protest campaign, #BringBackOurGirls, which emerged after the Islamists kidnapped more than 200 schoolgirls on April 14 from Chibok.

The leader of the extremist Boko Haram sect, Abubakar Shekau, has, in a video released to journalists, threatened more attacks against Nigeria, saying his members would target Nigeria’s sources of revenue, and her refineries.

Mr. Shekau, a fugitive, who is wanted for terrorism by both Nigeria and the U.S., also vowed to kill major Islamic clerics and people that support democracy, western education, and Christianity.
