Oshiomole Splashes 14 Million on 7 Police Officer's Widows

Seven widows of police officers who died in the line of duty received cash gifts from  Governor Adams Oshiomole of Edo state today.

He donated N14million (N2million each) to seven police officer's widows who died in the line of duty. Addressing the women, the governor said he was moved by their plight as well as the great service their husbands gave to the state. He also announced that N500,000 would be given to each of the children of the seven police officers.

The Governor said he hoped this act would help spur other police officers who are still in active force to be more dedicated to their duties so that posterity would remember them for good.

A widow’s quest for justice

Adiza Orjieh entered the crowded, tiny, court room and managed to squeeze her lean frame between lawyers, seated on a wooden bench.
A lawyer sitting at the front row looks back, acknowledges her presence with a nod, and turns to face the judge.
“We have a motion ex parte for substituted service and subject to the ruling of the court, we are willing to move,” Robert Igbinedion, Mrs. Orjieh’s lawyer, told the judge on Monday.
Mohammed Idris, a Federal High Court judge, granted the prayer and ordered the lawyer to “ensure that everybody is served.”
Mr. Idris adjourned till February 19 for the matter to continue.
