UNILAG Female Student Raped By Lagos Big Boy

To 300 level Computer Science student,  the 6th of November, 2014, was like every other day  at the University of Lagos, Akoka Yaba. The female student, who claimed to be sick, returned from lectures to her room at Moremi hall in UNILAG.

She was trying to rest when Daniel Okereke, a man who has been wooing her, came  visiting. The undergraduate was said to have left her room to attend to her visitor, who it was learnt opted to take her to a pharmaceutical store around Akoka to get some drugs. He reportedly took her to an eatery, so that she could get some food before taking the drugs.

 After which he offered to take her to his house and she accepted. Okereke took her to his house in the Mende area of Mariland where he allegedly ended up raping her...

PHOTOS: UNILAG Students Use Pure Water To Put Out Fire At Their Hostel

The popular Madam Tinubu Hall, MTH, was gutted by fire in the early hours of today after a student used a hot plate to cook and put it under her bed without totally putting out the heat. The fire started from the room and spread to other rooms but thankfully no student was killed. A few of them were however injured when they tried to jump from their windows to escape the fire.

The saddest part of it all was that students had to resort to using pure water to put the fire because there was no water in the hostel. Quite sad! See more photos below:

Gunmen Shoot UNILAG Student In The Head





 A University of Lagos student was reportedly shot in the head yesterday by unidentified gunmen at the King Jaja Hall area of the university on Monday. Fortunately, the student who was identified as Sapara, a final year student of Philosophy, had his face covered in blood instead of being dead after the bullet scraped the side of his head.

He was subsequently taken to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Idi-Araba, and official report have it that he is in a stable condition. The incident had however led to chaos as students were seen running in different directions after the gunshot was heard.

Punch reports that according to eyewitnesses, they saw a car speed off after the shooting, noting that the perpetrators might have carried out the attack from there.

UNILAG announces reversal of School fees following student protests

The management of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) has announced a reversal of the increased fees for course registration, and other charges, which initially led to a protest by the students on Friday morning.
The students were addressed by the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academic & Research, Babajide Alo as the students occupied the Senate building.
Prof. Alo also directed that the imposition of various charges on students to register separately for General Studies (GST) courses, be immediately reversed.
He advised the students who had paid to approach their faculty officers with teller evidence for a refund.
