Photos: Pope Prays In Istanbul Mosque In New Outreach

 Pope Francis took part in a Muslim prayer alongside the Grand Mufti of Istanbul on the second leg of his three-day visit to Turkey.

Francis stood on Saturday morning with his head bowed and hands clasped in front of him in a two minutes of silent prayer inside the 17th-century Sultan Ahmet mosque, aiming to show respect for Islam and encourage stronger ties between the two faiths.

Prophet T.B. Joshua gave another surprising revelation in his church service on Sunday 7th August 2014, specifically calling for prayers for Pope Francis of the Catholic Church, as well as prophesying an imminent hijacking of a plane by ‘militants’.

“There is a very big religious leader,” Joshua began, describing the said person as a ‘father’ figure, widely respected across different religions.

“I have been praying for him,” he continued, adding that he received an alarming ‘vision’ concerning him the prior day. They should pray for him,” Joshua proceeded.

“The clergyman I am talking about is the Pope,” he then clarified.

I Could Quit Like Benedict Or Even Die By 2017 - Pope Francis

Pope Francis has suggested that he might one day resign the papacy like his predecessor, Pope Benedict XVI did last year, which would make him the second consecutive Pope to do so after almost 600 years.

He said this 2 days ago on August 18th while speaking with reporters on his way back to Rome after his state visit to South Korea.

    "Some theologians may say this is not right, but I think this way. Let us think about what [Benedict XVI] said, "I have gotten old, I do not have the strength", it was a beautiful gesture of nobility, of humility and courage. But you could say to me, if you at some time felt you could not go forward, I would do the same."

Asked about his immense popularity, the  77 year old Pope, joked that he would probably die in the next 2/3 years so should not get too proud:

    “I know this will last a short time, two or three years, and then to the house of the Father.” he said

Catholic bishop Under Fire For Spending £25million on new palatial home

 

A German Catholic bishop faced pressure to resign on Wednesday after it emerged that his new palatial residence would cost £25m, over six times the original estimate.

Franz-Peter Tebartz-van Elst, bishop of Limburg, was investigated by a Vatican envoy last month after protests in his diocese against lavish spending.

His luxurious choice of home is at odds with Pope Francis's shift of the Church's focus towards simplicity and poverty.

The soaring cost of the stately residence next to Limburg's hilltop cathedral was made public by the diocese on Monday and was immediately criticised by churchgoers and officials.

VATICAN CITY (AFP) – Pope Francis has formally accepted the resignation of Germany’s controversial bishop of Limburg, who had come under fire for his luxury lifestyle.

Franz-Peter Terbartz-van Elst, nicknamed the “bling bishop” by the international media, had been indefinitely relieved of his clerical duties by Francis last year after details emerged of his high-roller lifestyle, said the Vatican Wednesday.

The Roman Catholic bishop had faced outrage over an ostentatious building project at his official residence, which included a museum, conference halls, a chapel and private apartments, in the ancient town of Limburg in central Hesse state.

While giving his weekly blessing from the Vatican, the Argentinian mistakenly uttered the word 'f***' in Italian before quickly correcting himself.
But within seconds his mistake was posted on dozens of Italian media websites and YouTube and had gained millions of worldwide hits as it went viral.
The words the Pope stumbled on were 'caso' (example) and 'cazzo' which means 'f***' in Italian and often trips up those not used to speaking the language
