Military Arrests Soldiers For Being ‘Moles’ For Boko Haram

According to a report on Vanguard Military authorities prosecuting the war against terrorism in the North East states of Adamawa, Borno and Yobe have arrested several soldiers, who were discovered to have leaked vital security information on the troops’ strategies and tactics to Boko Haram that led to a series of ambush and killing of over 30 Nigerian soldiers in recent times.

Most of the arrested soldiers serve as orderlies or aide-de-camps, ADCs to Commanders of Troops on the field.

It was gathered that the alleged moles among the soldiers leaked the information on the deployment of soldiers from Maimalari Barracks in April this year to the terrorists which led to an ambush and killing of so many soldiers of the 101 Battalion that consequently led to soldiers’ mutiny and the shooting at the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 7 Division, Major General Ahmed Mohammed. His armoured official car saved his life.

NIGERIAN SOLDIERS ARE AFRAID OF BOKO HARAM -- US GENERAL

If what the Americans are saying is true, then the fight against Boko Haram is very far from being won

The United States has exposed a secret in the fight against the dreaded Boko Haram terrorists, saying the Nigerian military is becoming afraid of engaging Boko Haram.

Testifying on Thursday before American Senate Foreign Relations Committee, the US Air Force Chief of Staff, Gen. Mark Welsh III, said: "We’re now looking at a (Nigerian) military force that is, quite frankly, becoming afraid to even engage."

The New York Times reported that the US might choose to minimise its involvement in the search for the over 200 schoolgirls abducted by Boko Haram due to doubts over Nigeria’s military capabilities.

BOKO HARAM: NIGERIA ARMY GETS A NOD FROM FGN TO BEGIN MASS RECRUITMENT IN MAY

The Federal Government has given  the armed forces and other security agencies the nod  to embark on mass recruitment.
The PUNCH gathered in Abuja on Sunday that the directive was to give fillip to the war against terrorism in the country.
It was also learnt that those who attended the expanded National Security Council meeting in Abuja on Thursday emphasised the need for the recruitment.
A highly placed military source said that   President  Goodluck Jonathan  issued the  directive for more recruitment into the army in March after the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen Kenneth Minimah,  had briefed him about the operations of the army.
The source, who did not want to be named because he was not authorised to speak on the  matter,  said   the army did not  begin the recruitment immediately because of the need to expand training facilities in parts of the country.

BREAKING NEWS: Nigeria’s New Defense Minister, Aliyu Gusau Resigns

General Aliyu Mohammed Gusau

Newly appointed Defense Minister Aliyu Gusau has resigned.
Mr. Gusau’s sudden decision to quit President Goodluck Jonathan’s cabinet arose from what the former minister considered an act of insubordination and indiscipline from Nigeria’s top military brass.

Several sources at the Defense Ministry told SaharaReporters that Nigeria’s top military officers yesterday refused to have a joint meeting with Mr. Gusau and his deputy, Musikilu Obanikoro, a former senator.

The Nigerian military on Friday said the convoy of the Adamawa State governor, Murtala Nyako, was not attacked.
The Director of Defence Information, Chris Olukolade, in a statement said “the alleged attack on the convoy of Governor Nyako as presented in a breaking news report on some television channels this afternoon is not true.”
Mr. Olukolade, a Major-General, said Mr. Nyako was returning from Michika and Shuwa where he went to sympathise with the communities attacked by suspected Boko Haram terrorists. He said on the governor’s return, he met a pandemonium by some individuals who mistook a convoy of troops for terrorists.

THIS IS NOT FUNNY :These Soldiers Surely Can’t Protect You Against Terrorism (LOOK)

donkey chasing soldiers

The war against extremist group Boko Haram is still raging in the North-Eastern part of Nigeria as can be seen from the recent massacre of 59 students in Yobe.
The Federal Government declared emergency rule on Adamawa, Borno and Yobe on May 14 2013 in a bid to curb the mayhem unleashed by the group but still the killing and the chaos continues.
In this photo, two soldiers hopefully not officers of the Nigerian army are seen running away from a relatively harmless Zebra and this begs the question, would these be willing to face terrorism of any form? We certainly don’t think so.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the families who lost children in the Yobe college attack.

Soldiers Flee As Boko Haram Attacks Adamawa In Deadly Convoy

The statement made by the Governor of Borno, Kashim Shettima seems to have been proven true after soldiers in Adamawa reportedly took to their heels on sighting a convoy of Boko Haram insurgents.
Governor Shettima said earlier in the week that the members of the militant group were better armed and better motivated than officers of the Nigerian army.
The attack on Adamawa, which came closely behind the Yobe college massacre, resulted in massive loss of life and property as people were killed and maimed and buildings were burnt.

Army Warns Churches Against End- of- Year Service In Adamawa State

Yola - The 23rd Brigade of Nigerian Army in  Yola has advised the Christian community in Adamawa to round off their end of year Church services on Tuesday by 10 pm.

The advice was contained in a statement signed by the Brigade’s Public Relations Officer, Ja'aafaru Nuhu.

He said the early completion of church services by the time was because of the existing 11pm to 5am curfew still in force in the state.

"The Headquarters of 23 Brigade wishes to bring to the notice of the general populace of Adamawa state that the imposition of curfew from 11pm to 5am daily is still in force.

"While we all know the importance of night prayers, especially at the last day of the year, we need to consider the best interest of the general public," the statement said.

It pledged the commitment of security agencies in the state to the safety of life and property and urged the public to sustain its support and cooperation towards the goal.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the curfew has been on force in the state since the declaration of state of emergency in May.
