The Ogun State Police Command on Tuesday said it has arrested an Abeokuta based pastor for allegedly fiddling with the private parts of a female member of his church, under the guise of confirming her virginity.
The 34-year-old cleric, Adekunle Kayode, of Jesus Is The Way Evangelistic Ministry, Olorunsogo, Abeokuta, was arrested in his home at Oke-Yidi.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, who confirmed the arrest, said it followed a report lodged by the victim’s father at Kemta Police Headquarters, Idi-Aba, Abeokuta.
According to Mr. Adejobi, the 20-year-old victim narrated her ordeal to her father who then informed the police of the incident.
Another suspect, Onatade Oluwasegun (23), was arrested for conspiring with the said pastor to use the victim for rituals.
The victim, according to police, claimed that Mr. Olusegun had used a charm on her at the behest of the pastor, with the intention of raping her.
Mr. Adejobi confirmed that the police had recovered the charm from the pastor within the church premises.
