OPINION: The Truth About The Alledged 'Genocide' In Borno State

You might have seen some images purported to be genocide in Borno state, apparently published by BluePrint magazine and shared by outspoken Boko Haram critic, Sheikh Gumi on his facebook page. We will like to verify that indeed this event did take place according to our investigations, but it needs better elaboration. Firstly it must be clearly stated that the act of children being summarily executed is abhored and without defense. Secondly, execution of captured suspects must always be preceeded by trials.

NIGERIAN MILITRAY DENIES ALLEGATIONS OF GENOCIDE IN BORNO

 



The Defence Headquarters has released a statement denying a claim today by a Kaduna-based cleric, Dr. Ahmad Gumi, that there is genocide going on in Borno where security forces/vigilante groups round up young men and kill them in a field for allegedly being Boko Haram members. The Director of Defence Information, Maj.-Gen Chris Olukolade, said the military is not involved in any genocide in any part of the country. Statement below



"The DHQ wishes to unequivocally dissociate the Nigerian military from any involvement in the alleged genocide as depicted in the graphic pictures which appeared in the front page of Blueprint newspapers of 22 May 2014 edition entitled, "Alleged Killing field in Borno".

Muslim Cleric Shares Very Disturbing Photos of Alleged Genocide Committed in Borno State (WARNING: GRAPHIC PHOTOS)

Renowned Muslim cleric, Dr. Ahmad Abubakar Mahmud Gumi, shared these disturbing photos early morning today on his Facebook page and according to him, allegedly, these are civilians rounded up in a genocide in Borno State. He is asking for this crime to not go unpunished, that the international community should institute an enquiry and search for other mass graves.

ABDUCTED SCHOOL GIRLS WILL END BOKO HARAM ACTIVITIES--SHEIKH AHMED GUMI

 A renowned Islamic Scholar Sheikh Ahmed Abubakar Gumi has said that the abduction of school girls from Chibok, Borno will bring an end to the dreaded Boko Haram activities.

In a statement in Kaduna, Gumi said the abductors are for the first time confined in a space, the Sambisa forest, therefore security agents should grab this opportunity, encircle the all outlets from the forest and use aerial surveillance that would lead to the capture of the insurgents.

"This abduction is an end game for whoever is responsible for the killings, bombings and terror all over in general. The abductors whoever they may be are confined in space and time for the first time. The abducted girls are known, therefore, lies will have to end. The abductors must be identified. These girls hold the answers to all the melodrama that is called war against Boko Haram.
